Golden Bears wrap up midweek competition at Meet of the UnSaintly

Faltesek records NCAA provo for second straight week

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams participated in their final midweek meet of the season on Wednesday afternoon, competing at the Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline University.

Senior Emmett Faltesek highlighted the Concordia men in the meet, setting a new personal record in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:48.09. His time was an NCAA provisional qualifier and ranks second in the NSIC this year.

Del Johnson also had a strong outing, placing second overall and first among Division II participants in the 400-meter dash with a new personal best time of 47.70 seconds. His time ranks as the third fastest in the NSIC this season and was just 0.04 seconds off an NCAA provisional qualifier. Johnson also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 21.86 seconds.

For the CSP women, junior Maya Lavendusky set a new personal record with a distance of 38.28 meters (125' 9") in the discus throw, placing ninth in the event. She also competed in the shot put, taking second place with a mark of 13.18 meters (43' 3").

Freshman Bernie Barnhardt also found success in the throws, setting a personal record in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.78 meters (160' 0").

Senior Destiny Mattingly set a new personal best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.16 seconds, taking fifth place in the standings. Mattingly, along with Jaidynn Dietel, Chidera Osuoha, and Ella Frieling, also anchored the CSP 4x100-meter relay squad that took second place with a time of 47.99 seconds.

The Golden Bears will now turn their attention toward their final tune up ahead of the conference championships as they are set to compete at the Maverick Open # 2 on Friday in Mankato, Minn.
