GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (8-5, 4-1 GLIAC) won their third straight game to stay hot in the GLIAC race behind Susie Monson's six points while taking down the Panthers of Davenport 13-12 on Friday evening at the DU Lacrosse Field.

Susie Monson continued her exceptional season while also becoming the Golden Bears all-time leader in assists in the victory with 51. Monson marked her sixth game of the season with three plus goals, scoring four and adding two assists to once again shine for the Navy and Gold.

Junior Cayla Jungwirth saw her best game of the season, recording four goals to mark her fourth career game with a hat-trick.

The Panthers were the first to score, getting off to a 3-0 run to take an early lead over the Golden Bears.

It was Kayleigh Nelson who broke into Davenport's run to get the Navy and Gold on the board and electrify the offense.

Sydney Smith and Jungwirth quickly each added a goal of their own to match the Panther's 3-0 scoring run and tie the game for the first time of the day.

Davenport would respond with a goal of their own to retake the lead and end the quarter up 4-3.

Jungwirth came out fast in the second quarter to score her second goal of the day and even the score once more. Two minutes later Kaysawn Carlson would score to give CSP their first lead of the game.

Another exchange of goals from both teams including Jungwirth's third goal of the day would send the game to halftime all tied up 6-6.

Coming out from halftime, the Panthers were able to score two minutes into the third quarter to take the 7-6 lead.

A pair of back-to-back goals from Jungwirth and Smith would give the Golden Bears back the lead and continue a back and forth matchup.

Davenport would come right back to match Concordia and rifle off their own pair of goals to mark the seventh lead change of the game.

Monson scored quickly before the end of the quarter to tally the seventh tying goal of the day and head into the final quarter at 9-9.

A pair of goals from the Panthers to start the fourth quarter gave Davenport their largest lead since the first quarter up 11-9.

The Golden Bears were not going to go away and were able to go on a 4-0 scoring run with three goals from Monson and a singular goal from Anna Fisher to take back the two-score lead 13-11 in the final minutes of the game.

With under a minute left of play, an error by the CSP defense would lead to a quick score for the Panthers to leave them down just one goal with 35 seconds remaining.

Davenport's hopes rested on a won draw control with fast legs running to the net, but a costly turnover from the Panthers caused by Paige Nicklaus gave the Navy and Gold their third straight win and marked the season sweep over the Red and Black.

Freshman Katie Colleran got the start in the net where she continued her strong defensive stand making eight saves to bring her season total to 72 and earn her fourth career win while also recording 13 ground balls.

Both teams tallied 30 shots with CSP just barely edging out the Panthers 21-20 in shots on goal. It was an even affair with each team making eight saves.

Monson added to her spectacular day with 10 draw controls to bring her season total to 61.

Sara Kaiser aided the Navy and Gold offense making three assists in the win while Smith and Jenna Hamman each had one.

Maddie Westberg led the defense with two caused turnovers and four ground balls.

The Golden Bears will look to keep their three-game winning streak alive when they visit the No. 22 Lakers of Grand Valley State on Sunday at the GVSU Lacrosse Field in Allendale, Mich. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT.
