CSP LAX returns home to face Grand Valley State and Davenport

Action begins Friday at 6 p.m. in the Concordia Dome

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (5-4, 1-0 GLIAC) returns home to face the Lakers of No. 17 Grand Valley State and the Panthers of Davenport at the Concordia Dome in a weekend of GLIAC play. 

Action will start on Friday with the Lakers traveling to St. Paul for a 6 p.m. matchup and will conclude on home turf against the Panthers for a Sunday afternoon game starting at 12 p.m.

RECAP OF THE WEEK 
Game One: CSP 18, SVSU 3
The Golden Bears were led by a high-powered offensive performance that saw nine players score including a trio of players record a hat-trick. Susie Monson, Sydney Smith and Shelby Hansen all recorded three goals in the victory with Kaci Kotscvar, Kaysawn Carlson and Erin Chartier who each tallied a pair of goals. 

As a team, the Navy and Gold rifled off 41 shots which is the seventh most in program history in a single game while setting a new program record with 45 ground balls. 

The game was all CSP from start to finish with the Golden Bears starting the game on a 17-0 scoring run that saw them not allow a goal in the first three quarters of play. 

Saginaw was able to score back-to-back goals for the first time in the game to end the game with a final score of 18-3. 

Monson scored her third hat-trick of the season, 12th of her career while adding an assist, two ground balls and two draw controls to show a remarkable outing. 

Smith recorded her third hat-trick of the season in the victory while accumulating three ground balls and an assist. 

Hansen collected her second hat-trick of the season along with one ground ball and two caused turnovers to add just another star to a star-studded day. 

Claire Flahaven shined on the defense, tallying five ground balls, two caused turnovers while making herself known on offense with her second career assist and three draw controls. 

Katie Colleran started in the net for the Golden Bears where she recorded six saves to bring her season total to 30 while allowing no goals. Marge Lucio came in for relief in the fourth quarter. 

SEASON LEADERS
Susie Monson leads the GLIAC in total assists (15), assists per game (1.88) and draw controls per game (5.38). All three stat categories rank top-35 in all of NCAA DII. 

Natalie Brownfiled leads the GLIAC in caused turnovers per game with two which ranks 34th in NCAA DII. 

Anna Fisher ranks second in the GLIAC in five categories including total goals (0.5), goals per game (3.25), total points (30), shots per game (7.63) and shots on goal per game (5.63). Her shots per game currently ranked 25th in all of NCAA DII. 

As a team, the Golden Bears lead the GLIAC in assists per game (5.75), caused turnovers per game (1.88) and women-down goals per game (.60). 

ABOUT THE LAKERS
Grand Valley State posted a (17-2, 6-0 GLIAC) record in the 2024 season and were picked to finish first in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll after winning their fourth straight GLIAC Tournament Championship. 

GVSU has advanced to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances in the last three years and have now taken the crown for all 11 regular-season GLIAC Titles while winning eight out of the 11 GLIAC Tournament Championships. 

The Hawks currently sit at 5-3, 0-0 GLIAC after falling in both games this past week to No. 5 Maryville and Indianapolis. 

Grand Valley returned seven of their top-10 scorers from last season with attack Ashleigh Rothe leading the team this season with 19 goals and 29 total points. 

All-American goalkeeper Kalyn Carter returned for the Hawks and has racked up 34 saves so far this season. 

HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND GVSU
The two programs have met a total of 12 times dating back to March 25, 2018 where the Hawks earned their first win over the Golden Bears. Grand Valley currently is undefeated against Concordia, holding a 12-0 all-time record. 

Last season, the Hawks outscored the Golden Bears 34-5 combined in their two meetings. 

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Davenport posted a (6-9, 1-5 GLIAC) record in the 2024 season and were picked to finish third in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll with nine points, just one point ahead of the Golden Bears. 

The Panthers currently sit at 5-2, 0-0 GLIAC) are on a five-game win streak after dropping their first two games of the season. This past week they took down Thomas Moore 18-7 to add their fifth win of the season. 

Davenport will open their GLIAC schedule against Northern Michigan on Friday before traveling to St. Paul on Sunday. 

Leading the Panthers are a trio of midfielders including Blakely Maplass, Theadora Krueger and Maddy Haynes who have recorded 55 combined goals and 73 points. 

HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND DU
The two programs have met a total of 14 times dating back to March 29, 2018 where the Golden Bears won 13-8. 

CSP would go on to win the next four meetings, before Davenport would earn their first win on April 16, 2021 by a score of 15-9. 

Concordia currently holds the all-time record 9-5
