INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Concordia-St. Paul senior heptathlete
Calder Erick secured All-America Second Team honors for the first time in his career on Friday afternoon, finishing 10
th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Fall Creek Pavilion.
The top eight finishers in each event are named First Team All-Americans while the nine through 12 finishers are named Second Team All-Americans.
Erick finished in the top 12 among the 16 competitors in each of the seven events, collecting a total of 5,197 points. Senior hurdler
Davion Williams also competed for the Golden Bears on Friday, placing 14
th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03 seconds.
On Friday, Erick placed fifth with a time of 7.11 seconds in the 60-meter dash, earning 844 points. In the long jump, he finished in ninth place with a distance of 6.65 meters (21' 9") and claimed 732 points. In the shot put, Erick posted mark of 12.69 meters (41' 6") to place seventh and earn 648 points. The final event of the afternoon in the multis was the high jump, with Erick placing 12
th with a mark of 1.80 meters (5' 9") to secure 627 points. He ended the day in 11
th place with 2851 points.
On Saturday, Erick got off to a strong start with a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.41 seconds to earn 881 points. In the pole vault, he cleared a height of 4.15 meters (13' 7.4") to place 11
th and earn 659 points. Erick wrapped up the championships on a strong note in the 1,000-meter run, setting a new personal record with a time of 2:46.22. That time was good for fifth place in the event, earning him 806 more points and placing him 10
th in the heptathlon with all seven events completed.
Erick is the first track and field All-American for CSP since Arika Harbo earned first team honors in both the high jump and heptathlon at least year's outdoor championships. He is the first All-American for the men's team since Jakob Tordsen secured first team honors and an individual national championship in the indoor heptathlon in 2022-23.
