Williams sets Golden Bear record at the Snowshoe Open

The senior shatters the school record in the 60-meter hurdles

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.  – The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up their final tune-ups ahead of the NSIC Championships over the weekend, send athletes to the Snowshoe Open hosted by the University of Minnesota, the Tostrud Classic hosted by St. Olaf, and the Gene Glader Classic hosted by Bethel.

At the Snowshoe Open, senior hurdler Davion Williams had another outstanding day in the 60-meter hurdles, shaving nearly a tenth of a second off his previous personal best to clock a time of 7.97 seconds to break the school record and win the event. That mark was an NCAA provisional qualifier and stands as the third fastest in the NSIC so far this season and the 15th fastest in all of Division II. The previous CSP record of 8.06 seconds was set by teammate Drake Daniels in 2024.

Junior Dan Otto competed at a pair of events over the weekend, breaking his personal record with a toss of 17.80 meters (58' 4.75") in the weight throw at the Snowshoe Open and setting another personal best in the shot put with a mark of 16.50 meters (54' 1.75") at the Gene Glader Classic. His distance in the shot put was an NCAA provisional qualifier, good for sixth in the NSIC and 37th in all of Division II this season.

Sophomore sprinter Patrick Ponnie set a new personal record in the 60-meter dash at the Snowshoe Open, clocking a time of 7.03 seconds in the preliminaries before clocking a time of 7.02 seconds in the finals to finish eighth.

Freshman Andrew Wilson set a pair of personal bests in the sprints at the Snowshoe Open, clocking a time of 23.18 seconds in the 200-meter dash and a time of 53.05 seconds int eh 400-meter dash.

In the 600-meter dash, sophomore Vance Landa broke his personal record with a time of 1:23.78 to finish second.

Senior Emmett Faltesek finished second in the mile run at the Snowshoe Open with a time of 4:16.68.

In the pole vault, junior Basheer Alam set a new personal record after clearing 4.12 meters (13' 6.25") at the Snowshoe Open, placing seventh in the event.

For the CSP women, sophomore Cadence Tanner placed second in a pair of jumping events at the Snowshoe Open, clearing 1.65 meters (5' 5") in the high jump and 5.57 meters (18' 3.25") in the long jump.

Junior Chidera Osuoha continued the trend of personal bests at the Snowshoe Open, setting a personal record of 7.99 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash before placing sixth in the finals with a time of 8.01 seconds. Osuoha also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 26.71 seconds.

Junior thrower Maya Lavendusky also competed at a pair of meets, setting a new personal record in the shot put with a distance of 13.58 meters (44' 6.75") to place second at the Snowshoe Open before using a toss of 13.20 meters (43' 3.75) to win the shot put at the Gene Glader Classic.

Freshman Mackenzie Lovejoy achieved a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles at the Snowshoe Open, clocking a time of 9.38 seconds in the preliminaries before placing seventh in the finals with a time of 9.44 seconds.
