INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The No. 11 Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team (24-2, 18-2 NSIC) was featured in the first edition of the NCAA Central Regional rankings. In this initial ranking, the top 10 teams in the region are unranked and put in alphabetical order.
The Golden Bears are among four NSIC teams featured in the regional rankings. No. 25 Minnesota State (21-5, 17-3 NSIC), Northern State (16-10, 13-7 NSIC) and No. 17 Southwest Minnesota State (24-2, 18-2 NSIC) were also included. The Golden Bears have wins over all three teams this season.
There are four MIAA teams and two GAC teams in the regional rankings. No. 7 Fort Hays State (22-2, 13-2 MIAA), Missouri Western (16-7, 11-4 MIAA), Nebraska Kearney (19-5, 12-3 MIAA) and No. 5 Pittsburg State (23-2, 15-0 MIAA) are represented from the MIAA. CSP defeated Missouri Western in nonconference play this season. Harding (18-6, 14-4 GAC) and Southern Nazarene (18-6, 15-3 GAC) are the GAC representatives.
The NCAA Central Region Tournament takes place March 14-17 with the No. 1 seed hosting. The Golden Bears have not made a Central Regional since 2013-14 when CSP won the regional tournament to make the Elite Eight.
Concordia-St. Paul finishes the regular season this weekend on the road against Bemidji State (6-18, 4-16 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Bears face Minnesota Crookston (9-17, 7-13 NSIC) on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
