St. Paul, Minn. - The Concordia- St. Paul soccer team (4-2-2) wrapped up homecoming weekend with a 1-0 win against the MSU Moorhead Dragons (1-6-1) on Sunday afternoon at Sea Foam Stadium.
The Golden Bears had a season-high 24 shots including another season-high 15 shots on goal.
Concordia claimed their fourth shutout win of the season in a game where the Golden Bears held a 24-1 shot advantage.
Senior Sammy Ponsonby continued to add to her best season, scoring her fourth goal, doubling her goal count from last season.
Senior Amaya O"Hearn had her fifth assist of the season today, continuing to make her the NSIC leader in assists and continues adding to her career-high number of assists on the season.
Sydney Potter made her third start of the season for the Navy and Gold in the net recording one save, marking the Dragons lone shot of the day.
In the first half, the CSP offense recorded 10 shots, including five on goal with the MSUM goalie saving all five. The Golden Bears had six corner kicks and were doing everything to get a shot in the net.
CSP came out fast in the second half, making three shots in the first minutes to try and get something going.
At the 67th minute after a series of shots by Sophia Haase and Amaya O'Hearn knocked down the Dragon's goalie, Sammy Ponsonby scored on a low shot to the right of the net to get the Golden Bears on the board with an assist by O'Hearn.
For the remainder of the second half, CSP controlled the pitch and held a second-half shot advantage 14-1.
Morgan Bilczewski held down the defensive side of the pitch playing a season-high 83 minutes with Clare Snapko playing her sixth 90-minute game of the season at midfield.
CSP soccer will return to action for a pair of road games next weekend at St. Cloud State on Friday and Minnesota Duluth on Sunday.
