EMPORIA, Kan. - Concordia-St. Paul senior
Arika Harbo took home First Team All-America honors in the heptathlon on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships as she set a school record with 5464 points.
Harbo added yet another major honor to her highly decorated career as she became a 10-time All-American with a fifth-place finish in the event. It was her fifth All-America selection in the multi-events and third in the heptathlon as she brought home First Team recognition for the second consecutive year in the event.
In her final collegiate heptathlon,
Arika Harbo left a lasting impression by surpassing her own school record of 5445 points set in last year's championships. Her all-around performance, marked by a single PR in the 200m, propelled her to new heights.
On the second day of competition, Harbo started off with a mark of 18' 8.50" in the long jump to bring home fifth.
She followed with a 13th-place result in the javelin throw as she came within 3' 5" of a PR in the event.
She closed out the heptathlon with a time of 2:24.85, also just 1.52 seconds off her career best, as she took 13th in the final event.
Harbo will look to close out her career on a high note on Saturday afternoon as the three-time national champion will look for her fourth in the high jump at 1:45 p.m.
