EMPORIA, Kan. - After day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships on the campus of Emporia State, Concordia-St. Paul senior
Arika Harbo sits in third place in the heptathlon with 3403 points.
After the first four events on Thursday, Harbo found herself just 89 points behind Pittsburg State's Blakelee Win in second and 393 points behind Saginaw Valley State's Cheyenne Nesbitt in first.
Harbo opened the day with the 100m hurdles as her time of 14.33 seconds earned her 932 points and a ninth-place finish.
She followed with her best finish of the day in the high jump as she came within 0.75" of her personal best, clearing 5' 11.25". The mark was good enough for the top spot as she added 991 points to her total to move into second.
She held firm in second place after the shot put as her distance of 37' 4" put her in 10th in the event with 620 points.
Closing out the day, Harbo added another ninth-place result as she wrapped up the 200m in 25.29 seconds, setting a new PR in the event.
Harbo will complete the final three events of the heptathlon on Friday with action beginning at 10:30 a.m. She will then conclude the meet on Saturday with the high jump at 1:45 p.m.
