AFTON, Okla. - The Golden Bear men's golf team finished the third and final round of the Showdown at Shangri La on Tuesday. Concordia-St. Paul finished 12th as a team led by Trey Timm and Tommy Marker tying for 35th shooting 222 (+9) over the three rounds on the par-71 golf course.
Timm tied his lowest three-round mark of his career and tied for the best round of any CSP golfer on the day shooting 75 (+4). He improved his placement from yesterday by 10 spots and made two birdies in the third round.
Marker shot a third-round 77 (+6) after shooting rounds of 70 (-1) and 75 (+4) on Monday. His overall score of 222 (+9) is his lowest three-round score of his career.
Senior Hunter Robinson and junior Brandon Sperling both tied for 58th shooting 227 (+14). Robinson tied Timm's low round of the day for CSP shooting a 75 (+4) improving by eight spots from yesterday's leaderboard. The senior golfer tallied four birdies on the day.
Sperling shot 81 (+10) in the third round after back-to-back rounds of 73 (+2) on Monday. Senior Ben Rasinski shot a 79 (+8) on Tuesday finishing tied for 65th with a total score of 229 (+16).
Central Oklahoma won the meet by one stroke over Harding shooting 849 (-3) as a team. Bennett Baldwin of Central Oklahoma shot 202 (-11) winning the individual title by three strokes. Alessandro Trenta of Winona State was the NSIC's highest finisher tying for fourth shooting 210 (-3). The Warriors finished in fifth in the team race.
The Golden Bears finished three strokes ahead of Bemidji State in 13th. Concordia-St. Paul finished five strokes behind Fort Hays State in 11th after the Tigers had the fourth best team score in round three. CSP shot 306 (+22) in the third round after shooting 291 (+7) in round one and 296 (+12) in round two.
Concordia-St. Paul is back in action next week at Firekeeper Golf Course in Mayetta, Kansas. The Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn is scheduled for April 8-9.
