ST. PAUL, Minn. - This Thursday and Saturday, Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse will head to Ohio to face a pair of opponents for the first time, first stopping in North Canton, Ohio to face Walsh on Thursday at 4 p.m. (CT) before heading to Painesville, Ohio for a game against Lake Erie on Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT).
Concordia is coming off an 18-8 win over Fort Lewis on a neutral field, splitting its Colorado tour after falling 8-7 in a close loss at UC-Colorado Springs, bringing the season record to 3-4 overall.
Walsh is off to a 3-2 start, coming off a pair of home wins last weekend, 27-0 over Ursuline and 12-10 over Quincy. They were picked first in the 2024 GMAC Coaches' Poll with seven of nine first place votes and 57 points. Walsh has won the last three Great Midwest Athletic Conference championships, returning the 2023 GMAC Defensive Player of the Year, Mallory Miller and All-GMAC First Team defender Sarah Shepherd playing in front of All-GMAC First Team goalie Kathleen Mendenhall.
Lake Erie matches Concordia's 3-4 record entering a two-game week, hosting Edinboro on Wednesday afternoon before welcoming Concordia on Saturday. Although the teams haven't faced a common opponent yet, Lake Erie fell to GLIAC member Davenport 20-7 at home in the third game of the year. Most recently, Lake Erie fell 17-9 at home to CSU-Pueblo, snapping a two-game win streak. Lake Erie was picked sixth in the GMAC, an eight team league, after producing a 4-10 overall record and 1-7 GMAC finish in 2023.
The Golden Bears are coming off of a convincing 18-8 win over Fort Lewis, including a school record 15 draw controls from
Susie Monson, who had seven points on five goals and a pair of assists to spark the win.
Cayla Jungwirth also had a big day with eight points on three goals and five assists. She produced the second-most assists in a game in team history and fifth-most points.Â
Munson's 18 goals and 25 points lead the team and are third in the GLIAC, while she and Jungwirth are tied for third in the GLIAC with seven assists, one more than
Hailey Hartlage for the team-high. Jungwirth is fifth in the GLIAC with 21 points. Monson is the GLIAC leader, ranking 22nd in the nation with 6.43 draw controls per game, as well.
Defensively,
Claire Flahaven, who earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season, is fifth in the country and leads the GLIAC with 3.57 caused turnovers per game.

Marge Lucio, who is off to a strong start in her rookie season, ranking 23rd in the nation with 49 saves, 33rd in the country with a 10.77 goals against average, 35th with 3.43 ground balls per game (2nd GLIAC) and 56th with a .412 goals against average.
