ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul indoor track & field teams will return to competition this Friday and Saturday for the Maverick Premier #1 and #2 events. Action for both days is slated for an 11 a.m. start from the Myers Field House in Mankato, Minnesota.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Golden Bears competed in the Gopher Classic at the University of Minnesota.
CSP tallied 30 top-10 finishes as the men finished with 16 and the women added 14 of their own, which included 15 top-five finishes.
Emmett Faltesek finished second in the 800m in a deep field of 34 runners. The junior used a personal-best time of 1:54.81 to finish just behind Ramy Ayoub of Minnesota (Unattached).
In the 200m, the Golden Bears had a strong showing as
Tarnue David finished second in the event with a time of 22.30, just ahead of the third and fourth-place finishers,
Priestly Jibunor (22.54) and
Tyce Smith (22.64).
Drake Daniels added a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles, Smith took fourth in the 400m and
Jerry Chanzu took fifth in the 60m.
Cade Feist led the way for the throwers on the men's side. The junior finished fourth in the shot put while adding a ninth-place finish in the weight throw.
On the women's side, the team of
Karlina Zimmerman,
Cadence Tanner,
Nyadio Chan and
Jaid Perry collected the lone win on the day for the team with a time of 4:09.62 in the 4x400m relay took the top spot.
Tanner added two more top-five results as her mark of 5' 3.75" was good for second in the pole vault and her mark of 8.05 seconds in the 60m earned her fifth.
Perry finished second in the 600m with a time of 1:38.72, while Chan took fourth in the event. Zimmerman added a fourth-place finish in the 200m.
LAST TRIP TO MINNESOTA STATE
Concordia kicked off the 2023-24 indoor campaign on Dec. 2 at the Myers Field House for the Chuck Peterson Open.
The Golden Bears tallied a combined 21 top-10 finishes in the meet, as the men compiled 15 top-10 finishes, and the women added six of their own.
Jose Nevarez-Ramirez added a third-place finish in the 800m on the men's side, while
Ted Carey matched the team-leading best finish in the long jump.
In men's throws, Feist recorded a distance of 49' 5.75" to finish fourth in the shot put, while
Carter Krummen added a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 50' 2.5".
Tanner led the women with a team-best seventh-place finish in the long jump. The freshman added an eighth-place finish in the high jump in her first appearance in the Navy and Gold.
Sarah Jeppesen recorded the lone top-10 finish in throws for the women with a distance of 44' 11 that was good enough for eighth in the weight throw.
In relay action, the men's team of
Vance Landa,
Payton Peterson,
Jackson Klocow and
Arik Nikolas finished third at 3:35.21. The women's team of
Erica Padilla, Perry, Tanner and Zimmerman did not record a time for the event.
