Golden Bear duo each earn All-Conference honors for second time in their careers

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2023-24 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams. Senior Ally Gietzel and Junior Lindsey Becher were honored with All-NSIC First Team selections, as voted on by NSIC head coaches. 

Gietzel scored her 1,000th career point this season on Jan. 10 against St. Cloud State. The senior guard finished fifth in the NSIC in scoring averaging 15.9 points, 10th in rebounding averaging 6.7 rebounds and second in minutes averaging 35.9 minutes per game. She was named NSIC Player of the Week during week four after breaking the school record for free throws made in a game with 21. 

Becher also scored her 1,000th career point this season against Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 10. The junior center leads the conference in blocks per game averaging 2.4. Her 13.4 points per game average is 13th in the NSIC and her average of 6.1 rebounds per game is tied for 13th in the conference. 

The Golden Bears earned the No. 3 seed in the NSIC Tournament which gave them a first-round bye after having a brief hiatus from the bye last season, playing in the opening round. Concordia-St. Paul is set to face No. 6 seed Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, March 3 at 7 p.m.

 
 

#21 Ally Gietzel (G, 6-0, Sr., Fond du Lac, Wis. / Fond du Lac HS)

  • Two-time All-NSIC selection after earning second-team honors last season

  • Scored double digits in 18 games with two double-doubles

  • Tallied seven games with 20+ points

  • Posted a career-high 36 points against Augustana, tied for third-most in school history

  • Holds the school record in free throws made (21) and free throw attempts (22)

  • Has the all-time best career minutes average in school history with 35.9 per game

  • Averages 15.6 ppg in her career which is 10th in program history

  • Grabs 7.2 rebounds per game which is eighth in program history

  • Averaging the second most minutes, fifth most points and 10th most rebounds in the NSIC this season

  • Sixth in the conference with an 81.6% free throw percentage

  • Reached 1,000 career points this season, now at 1,080 in her career

  • Averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals over 21 games
     

#11 Lindsey Becher  (C, 6-1, Jr., Shoreview, Minn. / Mounds View HS)

  • 2023-24 All-NSIC First Team

  • 2021-22 All-NSIC First Team

  • 2020-21 NSIC Freshman of the Year

  • 2020-21 NSIC All-Freshman Team

  • Reached 1,000 career points this season with a total of 1,051 in her career

  • 27th in program history in total points scored in a career 

  • Ranks first in the NSIC and ninth in the country in blocks per game averaging 2.4

  • Second all-time in program history with 225 career blocks

  • Ranks first in program history in career blocked shots average (2.7)

  • 20th in scoring average in school history averaging 12.7 points per game

  • Posted three double-doubles this season pushing her career total to eight double-doubles

  • Has scored in double digits in last eight consecutive games

  • Scored a season-high 28 points against Southwest Minnesota State 

  • Ranks 13th in points per game in NSIC and tied for 13th in rebounds per game

  • Fourth in the NSIC in field goal percentage shooting 47.1%

  • Averages 13.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.4 blocks over 27 games
