BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2023-24 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams. Senior Ally Gietzel and Junior Lindsey Becher were honored with All-NSIC First Team selections, as voted on by NSIC head coaches.
Gietzel scored her 1,000th career point this season on Jan. 10 against St. Cloud State. The senior guard finished fifth in the NSIC in scoring averaging 15.9 points, 10th in rebounding averaging 6.7 rebounds and second in minutes averaging 35.9 minutes per game. She was named NSIC Player of the Week during week four after breaking the school record for free throws made in a game with 21.
Becher also scored her 1,000th career point this season against Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 10. The junior center leads the conference in blocks per game averaging 2.4. Her 13.4 points per game average is 13th in the NSIC and her average of 6.1 rebounds per game is tied for 13th in the conference.
The Golden Bears earned the No. 3 seed in the NSIC Tournament which gave them a first-round bye after having a brief hiatus from the bye last season, playing in the opening round. Concordia-St. Paul is set to face No. 6 seed Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, March 3 at 7 p.m.
