MANKATO, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul track & field teams wrapped up the NSIC Indoor Championships on Saturday with the men finishing sixth and the women finishing 12th at Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State.
The men's squad finished strong as they scored all 44 of their points on the second day of the meet to move up to sixth in the standings, tied with UMary. The team received production from across the board with nine different individuals and a relay team scoring points.
Thomas Dietel was one of the point scorers on the track as he shattered the school record in the 200m with a time of 21.80 seconds to take fourth, earning five points. His mark was 0.12 seconds faster than Kawaskii Bacon's record set back in 2009. Dietel also joined forces with
Tyce Smith,
Tarnue David and
Priestly Jibunor in the 4x400m relay to grab eight more points with a second-place finish and a time of 3:21.89. The group earned All-NSIC honors with the finish. Jibunor added three points in the 400m, taking sixth.
Emmett Faltesek scored in a pair of events as he took fourth in the mile and fifth in the 800m to tally eight points on the day.
Will Sacay (3000m) and
Jerry Chanzu (200m) each contributed a pair of points with seventh-place results in their respective events while
Cade Feist earned a point with an eighth-place finish in the shot put.
Concordia continued to be a force in the multi-event category as
Calder Erick's 4874 points earned him second and an All-NSIC selection while Jeff Odamtten took sixth and
Will Hugo took eighth, giving the team a combined 12 points in the event.Â
On the women's side, the squad collected 10 more points to bring their total to 14 as finished just four and half points out of eighth in a bunched-up field.
Nyadio Chan's time of 2:21.03 in the 800m was good for sixth and three points while
Mehlayna Straub took home seventh and two points in the pentathlon with 3243 points in the event.
The 4x400m relay team of

Destiny Mattingly,
Nyadio Chan and
Jaid Perry picked up the other five points for the team with a time of 4:00.26.
