Golden Bears set for final competitions before NSIC Indoor Championships

CSP headed to the U of M on Friday and Bethel on Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track & field teams are set for their final preparations ahead of the NSIC Indoor Championships as they travel to the Snowshoe Open at the University of Minnesota on Friday and the Gene Glader Classic at Bethel on Saturday.
 
SNOWSHOE OPEN MEET INFORMATION
The majority of the Golden Bears competing this weekend will make the trip across the Mississippi River to the Minnesota Fieldhouse on Friday. Field events will begin at 2:15 p.m. while running events shortly after at 2:40 p.m.
 
GENE GLADER MEET INFORMATION
A group of CSP throwers will head to Bethel on Saturday as they compete at the Sports and Recreation Center. Action is scheduled for 10 a.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, Concordia made the trip south to Minnesota State as they collected 19 top-10 finishes with nine in the top five at the Maverick Premier #2.
 
Drake Daniels continued his strong campaign as he broke his own school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.12 seconds, surpassing his previous best of 8.18 seconds set a few weeks ago. His mark earned him fourth in the event, one day after taking fifth, as he improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Emmett Faltesek collected the team's lone win on the day as he paced the field with a time of 1:55.49 in the 800m.
 
On Friday, CSP saw Thomas Dietel and Jerry Chanzu hit NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 200m to highlight 13 top-10 finishes on the day at the Maverick Premier #1.
 
Dietel and Chanzu claimed two of the team's top-five results in the meet as Dietel took second with a time of 21.96 seconds, a mark which was just 0.04 seconds shy of Kawaskii Bacon's 2009 school record of 21.92. Jerry Chanzu followed close behind at 22.04 seconds to take fourth. Cadence Tanner was the top finisher for the women as her distance of 17' 6.25" in the long jump garnered an eighth-place result.
 
LAST TRIP TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA
Two weeks ago on Feb. 3, the Golden Bears tallied 30 top-10 finishes, including 15 in the top five on the day.
 
Of the nine top-five finishes on the men's side, eight came on the track, including three in the 200m. Tarnue David was the top finisher in that event as he took second with a time of 22.30 while Priestly Jibunor followed close behind in third at 22.54 and Tyce Smith took fourth with a time of 22.64. Emmett Faltesek added a second-place result of his own as he wrapped up the 800m in 1:54.81. Drake Daniels took third in the 60m hurdles while Smith took fourth in the 400m and Jerry Chanzu took fifth in the 60m.
 
The women's quartet of Karlina ZimmermanCadence TannerNyadio Chan and Jaid Perry collected the lone win on the day for the team as their time of 4:09.62 in the 4x400m relay took the top spot. Tanner chipped in two more top-five results as her mark of 5' 3.75" was good for second in the pole vault while her mark of 8.05 seconds in the 60m earned her fifth.
