MINOT, N.D. - The #12 Concordia-St. Paul volleyball team (9-4, 4-1 NSIC) opened its three-game road trip in North Dakota on Friday evening, sweeping the Minot State Beavers (1-11, 0-5 NSIC) in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
Concordia dominated all three sets, winning by scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-18 to complete the sweep. With the win, Concordia moves to 15-0 all-time against Minot State, with 13 of the 15 matches being sweeps.
The Golden Bears were dominant from the opening serve in set one, working out to an early 13-7 lead and cruising to a 25-11 win. As a team, CSP hit .364 in the frame while holding Minot State to just .028.
Trailing 5-2 early in the second set, Concordia rattled off five straight points and never looked back, securing another dominant win by a score of 25-12. The Bears hit at an incredible .475 clip in the set while the Beavers hit just .135.
Set three played out much like its immediate predecessor with CSP trailing 6-3 early before claiming six straight points to take a lead that would last for the remainder of the set on the way to a 25-18 win.
For the match, Concordia dominated nearly every statistical category, holding a 56-23 advantage in kills and a 68-46 edge in digs while outhitting the Beavers .336 to .057.
Making her collegiate debut,
Logan Koepke needed just two sets played to register a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs while hitting .435.
Sophia Andersen led the Golden Bear offense with 14 kills on a .357 hitting clip, also adding four digs.
Makenna Nold chipped in nine kills, three digs, and three block assists while hitting .381.
The reigning NSIC Defensive Player of the Week,
Cassie Sieling anchored the defensive effort for CSP once again with 16 digs, also contributing two set assists and a kill.
Ellie Sieling was an effective two-way player for Concordia, logging 14 digs and seven kills on a .357 hitting percentage.
Setter
Teagan Starkey had another strong outing, tallying 48 set assists (16.0 per set) to go along with five digs and a kill.
Middle blocker
Claudia Stahlke finished with eight kills and four total blocks.
The Golden Bears will return to action in North Dakota tomorrow, taking on the University of Mary at 5 p.m. in Bismarck.
