ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NSIC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26. This season's race is hosted by Minot State at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot, North Dakota.
MEET INFO
There's been a slight alteration to the start time of the meet due to forecasted frost on Saturday morning. It begins with the men's 8K race at 11 a.m. followed by the women's 6K race at noon.Â
The top 10 runners will be designated All-NSIC First Team and 11-20 will be designated All-NSIC Second Team. The All-Conference teams, Coach of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Athlete of the Meet, NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year and the NSIC Elite 18 Award will all be announced at the meet.Â
Admission to the meet is free and the races will be streamed on the NSIC Network. Live timing for the event is included in the links above. The race will feature 15 women's teams and 13 men's teams from the NSIC.
LAST SEASON
The Concordia-St. Paul men's squad finished in eighth place and the women's squad finished in 15th at last season's NSIC Championships at McDowell Dam in Bismarck, North Dakota. Will Sacay led the men's team in 17th place, earning All-NSIC Second Team.Â
Sacay finished with a time of 25:03.2 in the 8K race, which was a personal best for him at the time. Matthew Helser placed 31st with a time of 25:40.6 and Matt Krummel took 40th with a time of 25:55.8. Emmett Faltesek finished 51st with a time of 26:11.8.Â
The Golden Bear men finished in eighth place with 205 placement points. This was five points ahead of Minot State in ninth and 12 points behind Northern State in seventh.Â
On the women's side, Maddy Bryant led the team in 92nd with a time of 24:05.7. Anna Sajdak placed 104th with a time of 24:35.4. Kelsey Thelen finished 118th and Tess Houglum placed 119th.Â
Augustana won the men's race for their 14th conference championship in 15 seasons. Winona State won the women's race with Augustana finishing in second. Augustana's Ryan Hartman won the men's race individually and Winona State's Lindsay Cunningham became the first runner to win the NSIC Championship three consecutive years.
LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Bears last competed at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois on Oct. 12. The CSP men placed third out of 16 teams in the 8K open and the women placed 10th out of 13 teams in the 6K open. Eight CSP runners posted personal best times at the race.Â
Faltesek led the men's squad in sixth with a personal best time of 25:47.1 and he was followed closely behind by Krummel in seventh with a season-best time of 25:50.2. Sacay took 31st with a time of 26:31.4.Â
Andrew Alexander posted a time of 26:39.2, marking his personal best as he placed 39th. Ethan Blischke hit a personal best mark in 50th at 27:00.0. Andrew Boyum and Travis Tock placed 80th and 88th respectively.
On the women's side, Bryant placed 46th with a time of 25:47.7 for a season-best. Sajdak and Nyadio Chan were close behind in 48th and 49th respectively. Sajdak posted a time of 25:53.1 and Chan ran a 25:54.7 for a personal best time.Â
Thelen placed 79th with a time of 26:58.3 for a season-best time and Elise Atkins posted a PR of 30:30.5.
