Concordia women's golf set to compete at the Augustana Invite this weekend

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team tees off at 9:00 a.m. Friday for the Augustana Invite. The two day tournament hosted by Augustana University will take place at the par-71 Bakker Crossing Golf Course in Sioux Falls, South Dakota..

The Golden Bears will compete in a NSIC heavy field that includes seven conference teams. Three of the four teams ahead of CSP in the conference standings will be in attendance as Winona State, Minnesota State will be making the trip and will face the top NSIC team, Augustana. 

The Vikings have five golfers in the top ten in the conference including the top two in Molly Stevens and Lanie Veenendall. Isabella Dory is eighth in the conference with an average round score of 79.2, which ranks fifth all-time in school history. Freshman Piper Hill is coming off her first tournament victory and ranks fifteenth in the NSIC with an average round score of 81.

The Augustana Invitational is the final tournament for the Concordia women's golf team before the NSIC Championships on April 28-30. Last season the Golden Bears placed sixth at the conference championships, led by a sixth place finish by Isabella Dory

LAST TIME OUT
The CSP women competed at the NSIC Preview last week and took second place with a team total of 642 (+66) after rounds of 320 and 322. The Golden Bears finished as the top NSIC team at the event, defeating Winona State, Minnesota State, Sioux Falls and Upper Iowa.

Piper Hill tied for first place in the tournament, collecting her first tournament victory. The freshman put together rounds of 77 and 75 for a total of 152 (+8) to set a personal best for a 36-hole event. Hill was first in par-4 scoring in the event at 4.10 (+20).

Hill had company from her own team in the top-5 of the leader board as Isabella Dory came in with a third-place finish, shooting a 78 in round two, to finish at 154 (+10). Dory finished tied for the best par-3 scoring average at 3.13 (+1). It was the junior's third top five finish of the season. 

Anna Tollette tied for 19th with 169 strokes (+25) after carding a score of 89 (+16) in round two. Darby Barstad and Brooke Anderson both shot a 172 (+28) for the tournament to round out the CSP team to finish tied for 22nd.
