YOUTH DAY

SENIOR DAY
Prior to the game, Concordia will honor its lone senior on the 2023 roster, goalie
Candace McDole. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia native is the reigning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week, an award she's scooped up twice this year and three times in her two seasons as a Golden Bear. She was an All-GLIAC Second Team performer as a junior and was named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team, as well. As a college goalie, McDole has accumulated 677 career saves, piling up 242 at Concordia with 121 in 2022 and in 2023 while adding 435 during her time at Edinboro University from 2018-21. As a senior, she's had nine double-digit save performances including a double-double against Grand Valley State (3/24) with 19 saves and 10 ground balls against a nationally-ranked Lakers squad. McDole leads the GLIAC and ranks 27th in the country with 2.92 ground balls per game and is second in the league and 17th nationally with 121 saves, also ranking second in the conference in save percentage at .451.

With the opening of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference play, Concordia-St. Paul's remaining three home games (all league games) will be carried online through FloSports, the official live stream provider of the GLIAC. ABOUT THE GOLDEN BEARS
Entering the season, the most experienced aspect of the Golden Bear squad was its interior defense, and the results have shown as the team leads the league and ranks in the top-40 in the country in both ground balls (19.0/game) and caused turnovers (9.5/game) while ranking second in the GLIAC and 32nd in the nation in saves percentage (.462).Â
While senior goalie
Candace McDole has been instrumental, and her accolades are listed above, she's been backed up by the solid play of
Maddy Huebner, giving CSP a strong 1-2 punch at a critical position. Huebner brings a .521 saves percentage, having faced 64 total shots, making 25 saves to 23 goals allowed with a 6.99 goals against average in five games (197:25 minutes).Â
Defensively, freshman
Claire Flahaven leads the GLIAC with 1.54 caused turnovers per game, piling up 20 while leading all non-goalies with 25 ground balls. Sophomore
Meghan McGowan adds 13 caused turnovers and 23 ground balls while freshman
Kayleigh Nelson has 13 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls while adding 22 draw controls, seven goals and 11 assists.
Joining Nelson as an impact on the draw is freshman
Susie Monson with a team-high 32 draw controls, adding 16 ground balls and ranking third on the team with 18 goals and tied for second with 25 points. Sophomore
Anna Fisher is second on the team with 25 draw controls while bringing six goals and three assists to the squad.
The attack is led by a number of freshman including Monson and Nelson who are two of the seven players on the team with at least 12 points - six of those being freshmen.
Lauren Sheets continues to pace the attack, leading the GLIAC with 41 goals and ranking second in the league with 49 points.
Sara Kaiser is second on the team with 22 goals and 25 points with five straight multi-goal games and has scored multiple points in nine straight.
SERIES HISTORY: CSP 7, NMU 4
The Golden Bears have won seven of the 11 all-time meetings against the Wildcats although NMU has captured wins in four of the last five contests including a 13-11 decision in Marquette, Michigan last month. The Golden Bears are 3-1 against NMU at home, all coming in the confines of the Concordia Dome with this weekend's matchup being the first outdoors between the programs as NMU also plays indoors.
