ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – With the final round of the Holiday Inn Express Classic completed, Concordia-St. Paul women's golf team improved two spots from day one to finish tied for sixth place with 660 strokes (+85).
The women competed in a field of nine teams including NSIC counterparts Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. The Golden Bears shot a 326 (+38), shaving eight strokes from their round one score to jump MSU to finish first among conference teams. Host school Missouri State won the tournament with a two-round total of 604 strokes (+28).
Isabella Dory jumped up six spots to finish tied for 19th place in the field of 50. The junior shot rounds of 83 and 80 to bring her total to 163 (+19). Dory has now finished in the top 20 in six of her seven tournaments this season.
Piper Hill made the biggest jump in placement on day two, climbing nine spots after carding an 81 (+9) in the second round to finish with 165 strokes (+21). The freshman tied for the tenth best par-4 scoring at +3 (4.25).
Darby Barstad shot identical rounds of 83 (+11) to finish one stroke behind Hill at 166 (+22) and in a tie for 27th. The 166 edges out her 167 stroke performance at the Golden Bear Classic in the fall for the best 36-hole score of her season and career.
Shaving off three strokes from her round one score, Brooke Anderson moved up two spots to finish in a tie for 33rd with 167 strokes (+23). Anna Tollette rounded out the CSP golfers in the tournament, finishing in 40th with 170 strokes (+26).
The Concordia women's golf team will travel to Smithville, Mo. to compete in the NSIC Preview. The tournament will take place on April 3 and 4 at the Paradise Pointe Golf Course.
