MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams combined for 34Â top-10 finishes, including a pair of wins, while
Drake Daniels broke the school record in the 60m hurdles at the M City Indoor Classic on Friday.
Daniels provided a big highlight in just his second meet with the Golden Bears as the NDSU transfer matched the program record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.38 seconds in the prelims before blowing past that mark with a time of 8.27 seconds to claim a fifth-place finish in the finals.
Calder Erick added a big result of his own as he put up 4835 points in the heptathlon to hit an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. He was incredibly consistent across the events as he took second in the 60m and 60m hurdles and third in the long jump, shot put, pole vault and 1000m.
In total, the men's squad picked up 21 finishes inside the top-10 and seven in the top-five on the day as
Emmett Faltesek picked up the lone win with a time of 2:31.32 in the 1000m.
Tarnue David just missed out on a win of his own as he took second in the finals of the 60m with a time of 6.92 seconds while
Cade Feist's mark of 52' 6.00" was good for third in the shot put.
Devin Flakes gave CSP another top-five result in the field events as his mark of 41' 2.50" in the triple jump earned him fourth place. The 4x400m relay team rounded out the top-five finishers for the men as
Nate Segura,
Will Hugo,
Patrick Ponnie and
Jose Nevarez-Ramirez combined to take third with a time of 3:51.49.
CSP's women collected 13 top-10 finishes on the day with three picking up spots in the top-five.
Jaid Perry picked up a win in the 400m as her time of 1:00.19 earned her the top spot in the event. Joining her in the top-five in the event was
Karlina Zimmerman, who took fifth with a time of 1:02.59.
Cadence Tanner, who registered top-10 results in the long jump, high jump and 200m, grabbed the team's third top-five finish with a distance of 17' 0.75", good for third place in the long jump.
The Golden Bears now have a long break before returning to action after the New Year on Jan. 12 at the UST Invite.
