LEXINGTON, Ky. - The AVCA announced its 42nd annual All-America teams for NCAA Division II women's volleyball on Wednesday and Concordia-St. Paul had Teagan Starkey named to the First Team, Jasmine Mulvihill named to the Second Team and Emma Schmidt named to the Third Team as well as Sophia Andersen and Katie Mattson named honorable mention.

Concordia's five selections were the most since collecting three first team and two second team picks in their undefeated 2009 season.

The 2023 group includes 42 players—14 on the first, second, and third teams—from 28 schools. Missouri-St. Louis, Tampa, and Wayne State (Neb.) each had two players on the first team. Those three schools, as well as Concordia-St. Paul and Regis, who placed three players on the first three teams, registered multiple first team selections. There were an additional 106 players named honorable mention.

Three players become their school's first-ever AVCA Division II All-Americans: Jazmyn Wheeler of Augusta (2nd team), Ajack Malual of Chaminade (3rd team), and Alice Pavan from Quincy (3rd team).

The 2023 Freshman of the Year is Leilani Ama, a setter for Chaminade. This year's Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, and Player of the Year will be announced Thursday, Dec. 7.
