ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul (3-8, 2-8 NSIC) dropped its season finale 56-21 to Wayne State (8-3, 7-3 NSIC) on a cold, overcast afternoon at Sea Foam Stadium as the Golden Bears honored 17 seniors prior to kickoff.
Junior wide receiver
Peter Udoibok hauled in six catches for 141 yards including 51 yards after the catch while leading the team with nine targets. He added a third quarter touchdown on a reverse pass from sophomore wide receiver
Troy Ellison, helping CSP cut the margin to 35-14 with six minutes to play in the quarter.
But the Golden Bears were only able to muster 38 rushing yards against the stout Wildcats, averaging 1.9 per carry as CSP failed to top 100 yards on the ground as a team for just the second time this year. Wayne State capitalized on three CSP turnovers, turning them into 21 points including a third quarter scoop-and-score on CSP's opening drive of the second half after
Grant Miles scored just before halftime to cut into Wayne State's lead for a 21-7 halftime margin.
The scoop-and-score was followed by a Wayne State 72-yard touchdown strike through the air on the Wildcats' next drive, pushing the score to 35-7 just under five minutes into the third quarter.
Junior quarterback
Conner Cordts completed 20-41 for 245 yards and two touchdowns through the air, also connecting with junior wide receiver
Drew Enke late in the third quarter.
Junior running back
Jaylin Richardson had 20 rushing yards on a tough day on the ground for CSP, but added 46 yards on six receptions through the pass game to account for 66 total yards.
The Wildcats were led by quarterback Nick Bohn, who completed 18-21 for 319 yards and two touchdowns, adding two more scores on the ground while running back Dawson Forgy had 19 carries for 89 yards and three touchdowns.
Golden Bear junior punter
Parker Dahlman had a 44.3 average on six punts, including a pair inside the 20 with a long of 57 to complete his record-breaking season.
The CSP defense was led by redshirt freshman
Ben Rehl's seven tackles, adding a tackle for loss, while
Drake Teal had six tackles and one TFL and
Abe Schwinn had six tackles and a half for loss. Safety
Anthony Ukofia had five tackles (four solo), including a forced fumble that was scooped by linebacker
Brayden Hilgemann, who had four tackles and a tackle for loss.
Although the Golden Bear defense was hit for 532 yards by the Wildcats, CSP did force Wayne State to just 2-8 on third down and 1-3 on fourth down.
