ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul soccer (6-5-2, 4-3-2 NSIC) returns to action on the road this weekend to face the University of Mary Marauders and the Minot State Beavers. Action is set to begin on Friday at 7 p.m. in Bismarck, North Dakota at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, and will conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Minot, North Dakota at First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium.

RECAP OF THE WEEK
The Golden Bears extended the winning streak to two games Sunday with a dominant 2-0 win over the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs in Marshall, Minnesota.
Katie Anderson made history in the Navy and Gold after she drove in her 29th career goal, which is tied for first all-time with Rachel Vitense. In addition, she assisted on the second goal to help seal the game, putting her in a tie for third in school history with 67 points. Junior
Corynn Grabau continued her strong run of form as she scored for the second straight game and the third time in five as she moved her season total to five goals.
Jessi Jordan collected her third shutout of the season. The junior goalkeeper collected a trio of saves to extend her win total to four. Senior
Tori Miller added her first assist of the year to give her five points in 13 games, while
Belle Abruzzo played a pivotal role for the Golden Bears with a complete 90-minute performance on the pitch.
Concordia opened the scoring on the first shot attempt as Anderson found the back of the net on a stunner of a free kick in the eighth minute. Lining up from 35 yards out, Anderson fired a shot over the outstretched arms of the keeper and off the crossbar before the ball spun and nestled into the far corner of the net.
After an Abruzzo shot was pushed wide to set up a corner kick, she lofted a cross in that found the head of Anderson, who forwarded it on to Miller, who headed it over to Grabau, who headed it into the back of the net from point-blank range for an impressive team goal in the 12
th minute to double the lead.
Concordia continued to get the better of the play throughout the rest of the half before taking their 2-0 advantage into the locker room.
After the break, Jordan made her second save of the contest in the 70
th minute before making her third and final save 10 minutes later in the 80
th minute to secure the clean sheet.
SEASON-LEADERS
Anderson leads the team with 18 points this season following a historic outing against SMSU last Sunday. The senior captain has collected seven goals, including a hat-trick against Augustana, and four assists with the latest occurring last Sunday. In addition, her 61 shots and 26 shots on goal are the best in the entire NSIC.
Miller continues to anchor the Golden Bears' defense and remains perfect in total minutes with 1170 minutes this season. The senior captain has also collected a pair of goals and an assist to bring her point total to five for the season. She was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week (9/25) following an impressive showing against MSU Moorhead and Northern State.
Grabau remains in second following her fifth goal scored against the Mustangs last time out. The junior currently has 11 points with the addition of an assist that came against Augustana in the last home match. She has fired off 26 shots with 12 of them being on goal.
Jordan (4-5-1) has started 10 games in goal for the Golden Bears. The junior has collected 35 saves and has faced 84 shots. She has gathered a trio of shutouts and possesses a goals-against average of 1.05 (0.778 SV%).
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND UMARY
The two programs have met a total of 20 times dating back to September 21, 2002, and the Golden Bears hold a 3-15-2 all-time record against the Marauders. UMary was victorious in 12 of the first 13 matches between the two schools, claiming the inaugural match 2-0 in Bismarck. Concordia notched their first win in the series with a 3-1 decision in St. Paul. Last season, the Marauders took the match 2-0 at Sea Foam Stadium to give them back-to-back wins following a stellar performance by Kendra Parks, who tallied a pair of goals in the match. K. Anderson led CSP with 10 shots (four on goal).
ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
The University of Mary posted a 10-5-4 (7-4-4 NSIC) record in the 2022 campaign and was picked to finish fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 134 points.
The Marauders are currently 4-6-3 (3-4-2 NSIC) after going 2-0 last weekend. On Friday, they bested the Bemidji State Beavers 2-1 before collecting their third shutout victory of the season with a 2-0 win at home against Minnesota Crookston on Sunday.
In non-conference play, UMary went 1-2-1 to open the 2023 campaign. The Marauders got off to a fast start after tying with Western Colorado before defeating Minnesota State Moorhead 1-0 at home. Their two blemishes came against Grand Valley State and Central Missouri in neutral site play,
In NSIC play, the Marauders have collected three wins against Southwest Minnesota State, Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. In those wins, they have been able to outscore their opponents 5-1. Also, they have played to a couple of ties against Minnesota State Moorhead and Minnesota Duluth.
The player to watch for the Marauders is MaLiah Burke. The sophomore forward has collected seven points with three goals and an assist this season. She has also fired off 18 shots (six on goal) in 1033 minutes on the pitch.
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND MISU
The two programs have played a total of 11 times dating back to September 29, 2012, and the Golden Bears hold a 2-7-2 all-time record against the Beavers. MISU claimed the first seven matches in the series, including a 2-1 victory in the inaugural match that took place in Minot, North Dakota. The Golden Bears claimed the largest margin of victory in the series 5-0 with their first win in 2019. Since then, CSP has held a 1-0-2 record, and the two clubs played to a 0-0 draw last season at Sea Foam Stadium.
Ashlyn Waldon (2020-22) collected a pair of saves in the match, while
Sophie Pawlyshyn led all players with two shots on goal.
ABOUT THE BEAVERS
Minot State posted a 9-3-9 (8-1-6 NSIC) record in the 2022 campaign and was picked to finish sixth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 133 points.
The Beavers are currently 5-7-1 (2-6-1 NSIC) after going 1-1 last weekend. On Friday, they were dominant against the Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles after tallying four goals in the shutout victory. However, their good fortune fell flat on Sunday as Bemidji State bested them 3-0.
In non-conference play, MISU went 3-1 to open the 2023 campaign. They opened the season with a three-game winning streak after beating Minnesota Crookston, Montana State Billings and Black Hills State, outscoring them 4-1 in that span.
In NSIC play, the Beavers have collected a pair of wins. The first win came against UMary in the conference opener, 2-1, and the latter was last weekend against UMC. Notably, Minot State battled to a 1-1 draw with the Minnesota State Mavericks on September 24th.
The player to watch for the Beavers is Iliana Rivera. The freshman forward has collected five points with two goals and an assist so far this season. She has also fired off 16 shots (two on goal) in 740 on the pitch.
