AMES, Iowa – The Concordia Golden Bears track and field teams saw a busy weekend at the Cyclone Open at Iowa State and the Twin Ports Open at UW-Superior highlighted by school record performances from Arika Harbo in the long jump and Thomas Schauerman in the 800m.
 
Harbo and Schauerman's record-setting mark were the two NCAA provisional qualifying marks on the day for the team while two squads combined for 52 top-10 finishes and 29 results in the top-five between the two events.
 
Harbo broke Adejoke Adedeji's 19 year old record of 18' 8.5" set all the way back in 2004 as she cleared 19' 0.75" to take second in the meet and move into 19th in the nation in the event. She also finished within 1.75" of her own school record in the high jump as she added another second place finish with a height of 5' 9.75".
 
Thomas Schauerman's time of 1:52.18 was also a school record, resulting in a sixth place finish in the event. He moved into 16th on the indoor qualifying list with the finish.
 
Jakob Tordsen picked up the team's lone win in the Cyclone Open as he took the top spot in the pole vault with a height of 14' 5.25" while Matt Krummel added another win in the Twin Ports Open with a time of 2:03.33 in the 800m. Tordsen also took second in the long jump and fourth in the 60m hurdles prelims while Krummel chipped in a fourth place result in the mile.
 
Ted Carey and James Howard each contributed a pair of top-five finishes in the Twin Ports Open as Carey took second in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump while Howard took fourth in the 200m and 400m.
 
Cece Lewis added a pair of finishes inside the top-five as well, putting up a third place finish in the 200m and a fourth place finish in the 400m. She also helped the 4x400m relay team to a fifth place result.
 
Concordia heads back down to Mankato next weekend as they take part in the Mark Schuck Open & Multi on the campus of Minnesota State on Jan. 27-28.
