ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul soccer (4-3-2, 4-1-1 NSIC) capped off the week with a 4-1 victory on Sunday over the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons (1-5-1, 1-4-1 NSIC) at Sea Foam Stadium on Parent Appreciation Day.
"It was good to bounce back with a victory after a tough game Friday night," Coach
Steve Bellis stated.
"Moorhead was very gritty, determined and hard to play against. We moved the ball well and our possession rate was way better," Bellis added. "Ultimately, we finished the chances we created and had an overall good team performance today."
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Bears began the match with a quick offensive attack, as
Katie Anderson netted the first goal in the match off an assist from
Harper Smoot from a corner kick in the fifth minute of play.
Eight minutes later, the Dragons found an equalizer with a goal from Jensen Siedel off an assist by Lilly Johnson.
CSP would regain the lead in the 38th minute after
Nikki Anderson was able to score her first goal of the season.
Clare Snapko earned her first career goal in the 69th minute after she was able to sneak past the defense and find a perfectly placed cross from
Sophie Pawlyshyn.
K. Anderson added the final goal of the contest with her second goal of the match in the 88th minute.
Tori Miller and
Brittany Bordson helped anchor the Golden Bears' defense, as they held the Dragons to only five shots in the contest and a possession time of 36 percent for the game.
