CSP concludes non-conference play at Parkside

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer (0-1-1) will remain on the road this week to conclude non-conference action as they will travel to Kenosha, Wis. to take on the Wisconsin Parkside Rangers (1-1-0) on Friday. Kickoff from Wood Road Park Field is set for 11 a.m.

RECAP OF OPENING WEEK
The Golden Bears are coming off an 0-1-1 start to the 2022 season after facing off with the Rockhurst Hawks and the McKendree Bearcats.
 
Last Thursday in the season opener, the Golden Bears used an equalizer in the 89th minute to force a 1-1 tie against the Hawks at Seafoam Stadium.
 
Katie Anderson scored the lone goal for the Golden Bears in the match with a header off a corner kick. She has accounted for eight shots (two on goal) and accumulated 76 minutes on the turf.
 
Sophie Pawlyshyn contributed to the Golden Bears' goal with an assist that took place off a corner attempt. She had four shots (two on goal) and accumulated 65 minutes during the match.
 
Jessi Jordan made her 14th career start for the Golden Bears in the season opener. She tied a personal best in saves with six that she set twice a season ago.
 
On Saturday, the Golden Bears dropped their first game of the season in a neutral site match at Harms-Eischeid Stadium on the campus of Upper Iowa University to the McKendree Bearcats.
 
The Bearcats were able to net a goal of a penalty kick in the 32nd minute after being fouled by the Golden Bears inside of the goalkeeper box.
 
Pawlyshyn led the Golden Bears offensively with a team best two shots in the game and accumulated 67 minutes.
 
K. Anderson and Nikki Anderson were the lone Golden Bears to have shots on goal in the match.
 
Ashlyn Waldon made her eighth career start in goal for the Golden Bears. She faced six shots and saved five of them.
 
SEASON LEADERS
K. Anderson leads the Golden Bears with two points after two games. The junior forward has scored the only goal for the Golden Bears this season and has a team high nine shots (three on goal).
 
Pawlyshyn has the only other point for the Golden Bears so far this season. The junior midfielder has an assist and six shots (three on goal) this season.
 
Jordan leads the Golden Bears with six saves at goalie.
 
Tori Miller has seen the field the most for the Golden Bears this season with 178 total minutes.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN CSP AND UWP
The two programs have met a total of six times dating back to August 31, 2002, and the Golden Bears hold a 1-4-1 all-time record against the Rangers. The Rangers were victorious in the first four meetings, outscoring the Golden Bears 17-1 before the two teams tied 1-1 in Kenosha in 2009. After a 10-year break, the two teams met in Fayette, Iowa, where the Golden Bears were able to best the Rangers 3-0 and claim their first victory in the series in 2019.
 
ABOUT THE PARKSIDE RANGERS
Parkside went 4-13-2 in the 2021 campaign. They are returning 15 underclassmen and six seniors this season. Of those players, senior Alexis Baker, and junior Makayla Severson each played and had two shots (one on goal) in the last matchup between the two teams in 2019.
 
The Rangers have started the 2022 season with 1-1 against record against Illinois Springfield and Drury.
 
The Rangers were defeated on the road to begin the 2022 season by the Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars by a score of 1-0. The Rangers were outshot 12-to-4 and committed 14 fouls in the match.
 
Parkside bounced back with their first win of the season last Saturday with a 1-0 victory over the Drury Panthers. The Rangers were able to net a goal in the first half off one of their two shots. Despite being outshot 15-to-8 with six shots on goal, the Rangers were able to escape with a victory in their home opener.
