Game one had sophomore right handed pitched
Bryanna Olson carry over her momentum from three no-hit innings in Tuesday's canceled game at Winona State into a no-hit bid into the seventh inning today, with Bemidji State putting together a 5-run rally in the seventh inning capped off by a 3-run homer for a 5-2 lead.
Alexus Houston homered twice in the first game, going 2-3 with a homer and two RBIs and finishing the doubleheader 4-9 overall, bringing her home run total to sixth while adding her seventh stolen base.
In game two,
Clara Heislen's 13th inning 2-run home run was the difference, her ninth of the year as she went 3-7 in the second game. Right handed relief pitcher
Kristi Pilz worked 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with three strikeouts to improve to 5-0 on the season, lowering her season ERA to 1.75.
Senior catcher
Amanda Parsons went 2-3 in game one, extended her hitting streak to nine and her reached base streak to 17 before having it snapped in game two, although she added an RBI in the second game.
Payton Hanson went had a pinch hit single in the first game, earning a start in game two and going 2-3 with a walk and a run and is now 6-8 (.750) on the season.
Emma Lero came off the bench with a go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two, her third double of the season and is now hitting .343 on the year.
Olson took the loss in game one, falling to 15-5 despite striking out nine in a complete game, issuing just three hits. After loading the bases in the first (error, walk, HBP), she struck out the next three to start a string of five consecutive strikeouts while retiring 15 straight Beavers before a leadoff walk in the sixth was followed by three straight pop-ups to take her no-hit bid into the final frame.
In game two, left hander
Erica McCullough got the start and would not factor into the decision, working 6.0 frames while allowing two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and just one walk.
In game, CSP had 13 hits including multi-hit games from Heislen (3-7), Houston (2-6), Hanson (2-3),
Jacey Defries (2-5) and
Taylor Griffin (2-4).
