ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul head softball coach Bob Bartel has announced two additions for the 2023-24 academic year, Bryleigh Dana (Cottage Grove, Minn. / Park HS) and Emmy Bowne (Big Lake, Minn. / HS).

"CSP Softball is excited to welcome two fantastic student athletes to our campus and program starting next fall! We are not only adding two talented players on the field, but quality young ladies off the field that will serve our campus community well," said coach Bartel. "It was a pleasure to get to know Emmy and Bryleigh, as well as their families during the recruiting process. We look forward to seeing both in Golden Bear uniforms next year!"
 
Bryleigh Dana (C/1B/3B, 5-10, Fr., Cottage Grove, Minn. / Park HS)   
Park High School:
Lettered three times in both softball and basketball for the Wolfpack … selected First Team All-Conference and All-Conference Honorable Mention for softball … All-Conference Honorable Mention for basketball … 2018 MSHSL State Champion runner up… 2021 Section 3AAAA runner up … three year National Honors Society member … member of Leader's of the Pack and the Key Club … played for MN Magic club team.  

Personal:
Plans to major in criminal justice at Concordia … intends to pursue a career as a lawyer or member of the FBI after graduation … has a younger sister and brother. 

Coach Bartel on Dana: "Bryleigh is a power hitting strong armed catcher with a strong work ethic. Bryleigh puts in the time and work to keep improving on her skill set and it has shown over the past few seasons of high school and club softball.  She comes from a very strong high school program that prepares their players for the next level. We are excited to see Bryleigh take the next step in her career!"

Emmy Bowne (RHP/1B/3B, 5-10, Fr., Big Lake, Minn. / Big Lake HS) 
Big Lake High School:
Lettered five times in softball and twice in tennis … named Mississippi 8 All-Conference First Team for softball … All-Conference Academic Team … Spotlight on Scholarship award winner … voted offensive and defensive team MVP … senior year 1.12 ERA in 75 innings pitched with 136 strikeouts … she had a .415 batting average with a .456 on-base percentage while slugging .623 … team captain.

Personal:
Plans to major in physical therapy and hopes to pursue a career as a physical therapist … has an older and younger sister. 

Coach Bartel on Bowne: "Emmy brings a sense of poise and maturity to the circle, which will serve her well as she navigates through the DII softball ranks. Emmy brings power and an elite change-up to the circle that keeps hitters off balance. Emmy has a tremendous positive attitude in the circle and with her teammates, she's an absolute joy to watch, whether she's in the game or in the dugout. We look forward to seeing Emmy in Navy & Gold!"
