RECAP OF THE WEEK
The Golden Bears fell a spot in the conference standings and sit in fourth with 20 points after finishing the weekend 1-0-1.

On Friday night, the Golden Bears picked up a 2-1 road victory against Minnesota Duluth.

In the first minute of the match, Katie Anderson tried to spark the Golden Bears' offense with the first shot on goal that was brought in by the Bulldogs keeper in the lower right corner of the goal.

After three straight blocked shots by the Bulldogs, Sophie Pawlyshyn made a good attempt at goal in the 32nd minute that was spoiled by a diving attempt by the UMD keeper in the lower right corner of the goal.

The final shot on goal in the half came from Jessica Timpane, who put together a strong attempt that was gathered in the center of the goal.

Ashlyn Waldon made her 11th start of the season in goal for the Golden Bears and was able to make two impressive saves, which included a diving attempt in the 12th minute to secure a first-half shutout.

Pawlyshyn added the first shot on goal in the second half for the Golden Bears in the 50th minute of the match, but it was brought in near the top left corner of the goal.

Five minutes later, Grabau added her first shot on goal in the 55th minute that was collected at the goalies' feet.

The Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute, after a pass from Corynn Grabau set up Timpane's first goal of the season with a shot that sailed past the UMD goalie to find the right corner of the goal.

After Grabau was fouled by a UMD defender inside the box in the 71st minute, Pawlyshyn used a penalty kick to score her second goal of the season and extend the CSP lead to 2-0.

N. Anderson nearly gave the Golden Bears their third goal of the match in the 76th minute, but the ball deflected off the crossbar and sailed out of play. She would be denied five minutes later after a UMD defender was able to knock the ball out of play with the goal wide open.

Hannah Caldwell would get the Bulldogs on the board with a goal in the 84th minute after she was able to sneak past the shot Waldon in the lower-mid part of the goal.

A late shot from the Bulldogs in the final 20 seconds nearly gave them the equalizer that they were looking for, but a diving save by Waldon secured the 2-1 win for the Golden Bears.

Bordson anchored the Golden Bears' defense with a strong outing from the midfield position. She joined Mackenzie Leibiger, Harper Smoot, Tori Miller and Haley Rudebusch for the entire 90 minutes of the match.

CSP capped off the week with a 0-0 draw on the road against St. Cloud State on Sunday afternoon.

Neither the Golden Bears nor the Huskies could find the goal in the first half of play. CSP held a 6-to-3 advantage over SCSU in shots.

The Golden Bears controlled the possession time early in the first half with shots from Rudebusch in the third minute and a headed attempt from Miller off a corner kick in the seventh minute.

K. Anderson was the lone Golden Bear with a shot on goal in the first half with a strike in the 25th minute that was corralled by the Huskies keeper in the lower right corner of the goal.

Nikki Anderson and Clare Snapko both attempted shots in the closing 15 minutes of the half, but neither player was able to put a shot on goal.

Waldon made her 12th start of the season and collected three saves to secure the first-half shutout for the Golden Bears.

The Huskies started the second half with an offensive surge, as they were able to fire off the first three shots in the opening 15 minutes.

Pawlyshyn added the first shot on goal in the 58th of the second half for the Golden Bears that was saved by the Huskies keeper in the top right corner of the goal.

After shots from K. Anderson and Abby Kloiber failed to connect, N. Anderson nearly connected with the final shot of the match for the Golden Bears in the 77th minute, but the ball would deflect off the crossbar.

Waldon added two more saves to her stat line, bringing her total to five for the afternoon.

Smoot and T. Miller both saw the field for the full 90 minutes for the Golden Bears. CSP's defense held SCSU to only seven shots with five of them on goal for the match's entirety.
