Bears fall to #15 Bemidji State on Sunday

ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Concordia women's soccer team (3-3-1, 2-1-1) fell to #15 Bemidji State (6-0-1, 3-0-1) on Sunday afternoon, 2-1. A penalty kick by the Beavers proved to be enough to take down the Golden Bears.

On CSP's performance, Head Coach Steve Bellis mentioned, "We are very proud of our performance today versus a quality side. A few bounces didn't quite go our way and we didn't get the chances we deserved."

Kloiber, a redshirt freshman transfer from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, now has two goals and two assists on the season, totaling six points and moving to second on her team in total points.

Offensively, the Golden Bears maintained possession of the ball 62% of the time, compared to the opponents' 38%. They also managed 17 total shots with six being on frame. The Beavers only had nine total shots.

Brittany Bordson and Katie Anderson both led CSP with four shots in the contest. Bordson had one on goal while Anderson had two on goal. Nikki Anderson also managed three shots with one on target.

Katie Anderson and Bemidji State's Allyson Smith are neck-and-neck in NSIC standings for shots and shots on goal. After Sunday's contest, Anderson still remains in first place in shots with one more than Smith, with 41. Each player had four shots in the match. Smith moves to 22 shots on goal while Anderson moves to 18.

Defensively, the Golden Bears were able to hold the Beavers to possessing the ball for only 15% in the Bears' final quarter of the field. Though allowing two goals, goalkeeper Jessi Jordan totaled six saves, with three coming in each half.

Looking ahead, Bellis adds, "I hope we can build off the performance and bounce back next weekend."

The Golden Bears will take to the road for their next two contests. First, they will play against Northern State University on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. They will then face off against MSU Moorhead on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
