Wayne, Neb.- The Concordia women's soccer team improved to a 2-2-1 record (1-0-1 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon after defeating Wayne State (Neb.). The single goal by Katie Anderson in the 7th minute proved to be the game winning goal, giving the Golden Bears their first league win in 2021.
On the road win, Head Coach Steve Bellis commented, "We are happy with the result against a resilient Wayne State team. Another quality Anderson finish was the big difference."
Katie Anderson, the sole goal-scorer, moves to four goals on the season, leading her team and earning her first game-winning goal of the season. She now sits at second place in league standings for goals and leads the league with 30 shots and 15 shots on goal.
The win on Sunday improves CSP's record against WSC to 16-8-2 and increases the win streak to five straight games. The last matchup between the Golden Bears and the Wildcats also ended with a 1-0 score with a goal by Anderson.
