Concordia-St. Paul announces 2021 Athletic Hall of Fame class

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Concordia University has announced the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2021. The nine new members inducted this year are: Jonathan Breitbarth, Emily (Palkert) Davis, Brenden Furrow, David Golnitz, Craig Heiman, Ron Hilk, Travis Johansen, Sami Mattson and Janet (Brownawell) Smith.

This year’s induction class represents eight total sports led by three from track & field and football, two each from cross country, baseball and softball along with one from volleyball, men’s basketball and wrestling. The class is comprised of six men and three women and includes four multi-sport athletes.

The 2021 CSP Athletic Hall of Fame class will be officially inducted at the Athletic Hall of Fame brunch during Homecoming 2021 weekend on Saturday, October 9 at 9 a.m. on campus at the Buenger Education Center (BEC). Tickets to the brunch are limited, but available on the CSP homecoming registration website.

The nine new members represent the 16th induction class to the Athletic Hall of Fame dating back to its origination in 1992. The Hall of Fame now has 135 members.

Concordia began sponsoring four-year college athletics in 1967-68, competing as a junior college and high school (academy) from its founding in 1893 until that time. Until 1999, CSP was known as the Comets and competed as members of the NAIA before its transition to NCAA Division II with membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) starting in the 1999-2000 academic year.
