ALLENDALE, Mich.– The NCAA Outdoor Championships wrapped up on Saturday and three Golden Bears earned All-America honors in the meet.
Benjamin Allen came within a hundredth of a second of first place in the 1500m, landing in second place with a time of 3:52.96.
Marcus Gustaveson also earned First Team All-America honors in the discus with a throw of 54.32m, landing him in third place overall.
Christabelle Mulcahy earned Second Team honors in the 100m hurdles with a 12th place finish behind a time of 14.34.
For Allen, this is the second time in his career he has earned First Team All-America honors having previously done it in 2019. His second-place finish in the 1500m on Saturday was the highest ever by a Golden Bear, breaking the previous record of fourth place held by Allen (2019, 1500m), Wakpor Ighovojah (heptathlon, 2018), and Kalle Burney (pentathlon, 2018).
Marcus Gustaveson became the first Golden Bear to crack the top three in the national meet with his third-place finish in the discus on Friday afternoon. His throw of 178' 2" (54.32m) came within four feet of second place and was just six feet from first place, earning him First Team All-America honors.
In the 100m hurdles,
Christabelle Mulcahy earned Second Team All-America honors as she finished in 12
th place with a time of 14.34 seconds. Her 12
th place finish is a new program best in the 100m hurdles at the NCAA Championships.
Toni Canfall also competed in the meet, finishing 14
th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.01 seconds. It was Canfall's third appearance in the national meet and her first in the outdoor season.
