ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul (3-7, 2-6 GLIAC) closed out the 2021 regular season with a 16-7 home loss to Davenport (8-1, 4-1 GLIAC) on Sunday at Sea Foam Stadium.

The five team league features the top four advancing to the GLIAC Tournament, with semifinal games on May 7 and championship game on May 9. Grand Valley State sits atop the league at 5-0.
Today's game was a similar outcome as Friday evening's matchup between the two programs, as CSP struck first and held the early upper hand with 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 leads. Once again, Davenport knotted the game at 3-3 before reclaiming a lead that they would not relinquish.
Davenport used a 3-0 spurt to claim a 5-3 lead, and opened up a 7-4 margin before
Sarah Pierson scored with 2.8 seconds left in the half to pull CSP back within two (7-5).
Davenport countered by scoring the first five goals of the second half, claiming a seven goal advantage with 18:40 left.
Goals by
Erica Peterson and
Molly Moynihan's second goal of the game gave CSP life in the middle of the half, trimming the margin to five at 12-7, before the Panthers closed out the game with the final four goals.
Joining
Molly Moynihan with two point performances were
Erica Peterson and
Mary Keating, who each had a goal and an assist. Pierson was strong on the draw, finishing the game with eight draw controls including the game's first three. But Davenport would finish with a slight draw margin, at 13-12 despite Pierson's big performance.
Freshman goalie
Maddy Huebner saved 10 Davenport shots in the game, and secured eight ground balls in the crease. Her counterpart for Davenport, Grace DeRidder, played the full game today and made seven saves for the win.
Davenport was led by Ryann Deuel with four goals and five draw controls while Reilly Noble and Brenna Knoll each had five points on three goals and two assists.
Concordia honored its two graduating seniors,
Lex Seifert and
Valerie Bragg prior to and following the conclusion of the game. Seifert is a four year contributor and multi-year starter for the team who has had to miss time this year due to injury, while Bragg finished today's game with a pair of caused turnovers. She's now tied for third in the GLIAC with 12 caused turnovers on the season.
The programs other two seniors,
Katie Moynihan and
Sarah Pierson, have additional athletic eligibility due to NCAA COVID-19 policies.
