ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul Overwatch team (2-6) fell to Marquette (Wis.) 2-0 and defeated Bethany (Kan.) 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

In the first map, a game of control on the map Nepal, the Golden Eagles came out strong as they quickly got on the point to begin their capture. The Bears were unable to respond as Marquette held the point for the entire round. In round two, the Eagles once again got on the point first, taking it all the way to 99%. The Bears did manage to take control of the point and capture 18%, but Marquette jumped back on the point and finished their capture to win the round and take map one.

In map two, a game of hybrid on the map King's Row, the Bears started on defense. The Bears stood tall for the duration of the round, making life difficult for the Golden Eagles every step of the way. Marquette eventually managed to unlock the payload and push it through most of the map. With the payload on the doorstep of the finish line, the Bears mounted one last defensive effort and managed to take control of the cart, pushing it backwards in the process. In the end, the Eagles regained control and pushed the payload across the finish line with just 18 seconds remaining. In round two with CSP now on offense, it was another tightly contested round. The Bears managed to unlock the payload and begin their escort, but the Golden Eagles continued to press them through the map. With the payload just meters away from the finish line, Marquette made a strong push to gain control of the cart and run out the timer to complete the sweep.

In game two with the Bears now facing Bethany College, the Bears came out hot in the first map on Nepal. The first round was even in the early stages with each team hovering just above 30% of the objective, but the Bears took control and took the point all the way to 100% to win round one. In round two, the Bears dominated the Swedes, taking the point all the way to 100% while holding Bethany to just 7%.

In map two, a game of hybrid on Eichenwalde, the Bears started on offense. The Bethany defense held strong in the beginning of the round, but CSP was eventually able to push through and unlock the payload. The Bears slowly pushed the payload through the map, crossing the finish line with just five seconds remaining. In round two with the Bears now on defense,
