ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul Overwatch team (1-3) defeated Kilgore College (Texas) (0-3) 2-0 and fell to Clemson University (S.C.) (2-2) 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

In the first map, a game of control on the map Oasis, the Bears came out swinging as they quickly captured the objective while only allowing the Rangers to gain 9% on the objective. Round two started the opposite way with the Rangers capturing 99% of the objective before the Bears were able to clear them off and begin their own capture. The Bears managed to capture 43% of the point before the Rangers regrouped and pushed them off to finish their own capture and win the round. CSP came out hot again in round three, quickly getting on the point and taking it up to 76% before the Rangers pushed them off. Kilgore captured almost 50% of the objective, but the Bears regrouped and pushed them off again. The teams continued to go back and forth, but CSP was eventually able to run out the overtime clock with a higher percentage to win the round and take map one.

In map two, a game of hybrid on the map King's Row, the Bears started on defense. Round one was an extremely close affair as Kilgore managed to unlock the payload and push it beyond the first checkpoint. With time quickly ticking down, the payload neared the finish line. The CSP defense stepped up, pushing the Rangers off the payload and running out the clock to win round one. The Bears kept that momentum up in the second round, quickly unlocking the payload and pushing it through the map. The Rangers defense had no answers as CSP pushed the cart all the way to the finish line to take the map and win their first game of the season.

In game two with the Bears now facing the Clemson Tigers, round one was once again a game of control on the map Oasis. The Tigers struck first, gaining control of the objective and beginning their capture. They managed to capture 99% of the point before the Bears were able to push them off and begin their own capture. CSP also captured 99% of the point, but the Tigers took control again and finished their capture to win the first round. Round two started in a similar fashion with Clemson taking control of the point early. The Tigers once again captured 99% of the point before being pushed off by CSP. The Bears managed to take the objective to 40%, but the Tigers wiped the CSP players off the point and ran out the overtime clock to take map one.

In map two, another game of hybrid on King's Row, the Bears started on defense again. The Tigers offensive attack proved to be too strong for the Bears as Clemson unlocked the payload and pushed it all the way to the finish line with ease. The Bears struggled to get going on offense in round two, but they did manage to unlock the payload just before time expired. With the clock reset, the Bears began their push through the map. In the end, the Bears managed to push the cart the entire length of the map to win the round and force round three. With only a minute of time to work with in round three, CSP was unable to get anything going as the clock ran out. With Clemson only needing to unlock a third of the payload, the Bears defense was unable to hold as the Tigers took control of the payload and captured the necessary portion to win map two and take the game.

The Golden Bears will return to Overwatch action next Saturday at 2 p.m.
