Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer team moved to 9-6-3 (8-4-3 NSIC) after remaining scoreless after 2OT periods of play against Minnesota State (14-2-2, 12-1-2 NSIC) on Friday afternoon.
With the draw, the Golden Bears advance to fifth place in the NSIC standings with 26 points as UMary fell to Minot State after a 1-0 match on Friday and still hold 25 points. The Mavericks are now tied for second in the conference with Augustana, each with 38 points. The Vikings on Friday afternoon defeated Wayne State College 2-0 to improve from third place.
The NSIC announced the 2021 NSIC Soccer Tournament Bracket on Friday night after the conclusion of the match. Concordia-St. Paul will face Minot State in the first round on Wednesday, November 10. The full NSIC press release can be found

After the match, Head Coach
Steve Bellis noted, "Tonight's game was a good contest. Both teams played some nice stuff. I thought we had more of the ball and possession over the whole game and needed a little bit of magic in the final third. It's a good way to prepare for our playoff run."
After 110 minutes of play, the Golden Bears possessed the ball in a 60/40 split with their opponents, maintaining possession in the Maverick half 64% of that time.
Led by
Katie Anderson with eight, the Golden Bears outshot the Mavericks 18-9, doubling the guests' efforts. Anderson now has 97 shots on the season and through 18 games played, currently leads the NSIC in that category.
Her two shots on goal were also a high for the CSP squad.
Jena Berkland,
Sophie Pawlyshyn, and
Abby Kloiber each had one shot on goal to combine for the Bears' five total, the same amount as the Mavericks.
The Golden Bear defense's resilience showed on Friday afternoon.
Cayla Renwick,
Ciara Bailey, and
Tori Miller, along with goalkeeper
Ashlyn Waldon, all played the entirety of the match through both overtime periods. The backline also managed to keep their opponents to nine shots and five on goal while shutting down Jenny Vetter, the NSIC's second leading scorer.
Waldon earned her third career shutout and the freshman goalkeeper managed five saves on nine shots faced. With 426 minutes played, Waldon has allowed only two goals against and has a 0.895 save percentage. She improved to a 3-0-1 record after the draw.
The scoreless match concludes the Golden Bear regular season in 2021 as they look to continue into the NSIC playoffs in the coming week. The match on Friday also honored the team's graduating players on Senior Night.
