ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul Hearthstone team saw their run in the Tespa Collegiate Championship West Division Second Split playoffs come to a close on Sunday as they fell to Cal Poly Pomona 3-1.

In the first game, Concordia called on their rogue deck against CPP's shaman deck. It was even through the middle stages of the contest until the Golden Bears took control with a big turn eight, knocking the Broncos down to 10 health. Cal Poly Pomona saw no path forward as they conceded two turns later.

Concordia followed with their paladin deck in game two against Cal Poly Pomona's warrior deck. The Golden Bears plugged away to build a 30-18 advantage through seven turns, but it would not last. The Broncos stayed alive as they built up a huge store of armor before compiling a key combo in the late stages to deliver lethal damage.

In game three, CSP went with their paladin deck again while Cal Poly Pomona turned to their rogue deck. It was a back and forth game in which neither team built much of a lead until late. Concordia managed to gain an edge at 24-14 after turn 10, but board control sat comfortably in CPP's favor. That board control proved to be the difference as the Broncos came out on top with no cards remaining.

The Golden Bears made it three straight with the paladin deck in game four as they matched up with Cal Poly Pomona's shaman deck. Concordia was unable to keep pace with the Broncos as they quickly built an edge on the board and used it to their advantage to complete the four-game victory.
