ST. PAUL, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul head women's basketball coach Amanda Johnson has announced the signing of three new Golden Bears for the 2021 season.
Megan Gamble (F, 5'11", Fr., Clear Lake, Minn. / Becker HS)
Becker High School: Earned ten letters across four different activities for the Bulldogs including three in basketball, four in soccer, two in lacrosse, and one in National Honor Society … named All-State Honorable Mention as part of the basketball team … earned All-Conference honors twice in basketball … served as captain of the basketball team … named All-Conference Honorable Mention as a member of the soccer team … served as a captain of the soccer team … averaged 11.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.8 apg, and 2.3 spg.
Personal: Plans to major in nursing at CSP … her mother was a part of the track and field team at MSU-Mankato … has one younger sister.
Coach Johnson on Gamble: "Megan is a very physical left-handed forward who is always going to outwork her opponent. She will be able to play inside and outside for us at Concordia. She is a player who is always going to push herself and her teammates to be the best they can be. Her physical play and experience playing at a high level with her AAU and high school team will help her adjust quickly to play at the college level. She will bring a very high level of toughness to our roster and that is what makes her so special and fun to watch."
Caela Tighe (G, 6'0", Fr., Big Lake, Minn. / Big Lake HS)
Big Lake High School: Lettered five times in basketball for the Hornets … earned All-Conference and All-State honors as a junior … named All-Conference Honorable Mention and All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore … earned All-Academic honors twice … served as team captain … averaged 14.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.4 apg, and 3.2 spg.
Personal: Plans to double major in business and psychology at CSP … her father played football at Albion College … has one brother and one sister.
Coach Johnson on Tighe: "Caela will bring a lot of length into our guard play with her 6'0 athletic frame. With Caela's length and ability to move she is capable of defending multiple positions on the floor and we expect her to be one of our top defenders because of it. Not only is she a threat defensively, but she also brings many weapons offensively to our program. Caela is able to create shots for herself with her length, knock down open 3's, and get to the basket to finish over smaller guards who are defending her. She is a huge addition to our roster and we cannot wait to watch her shine in the NSIC."
Faith Alberts (F, 6'1", Fr., Parkers Prairie, Minn. / Parkers Prairie HS)
Parkers Prairie High School: Earned 18 letters across seven different activities for the Panthers including four in basketball, two in volleyball, two in track and field, one in fishing league, three in band, three in knowledge bowl, and three in academics … named All-Conference in basketball all four years … earned All-State Honorable Mention honors twice … named Most Valuable Player on the basketball team two times … named Most Improved Player on the basketball team … served as captain of the basketball team … earned All-Conference honors twice as a member of the volleyball team … named Most Improved Player on the volleyball team … named MVP of the volleyball team … served as a volleyball captain … averaged 22 ppg, 9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.5 spg, and 3.2 bpg.
Personal: Has three older brothers and two older sisters … plans to major in finance with a minor in accounting at CSP.
Coach Johnson on Alberts: "Faith is a long athletic post player who has a great touch finishing around the basket, she will be a tough match up for other post players to defend with her quickness and ability to shoot from the perimeter. Not only can she shoot but she is a great passer who sees the floor very well for a 6'1 post player. Faith is also a great rebounder on both ends of the floor. She will be a great addition to our roster with her length and athleticism."
