ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul Overwatch team (2-8) dropped their final two games of the season as they fell to both Marian (Wis.) and Jamestown (N.D.) on Thursday evening.
The Golden Bears lineup for both games was Matthew Walker, Jack Krueger, Quiben Yang, Richard Mahle, Daniel Carter, and Chufu Thao.
Playing against Marian in the first game of the night, the Bears quicky found themselves in a 2-0 hole as they dropped the first two maps of the night. CSP was finally able to get things rolling in map three, a game of hybrid on King's Row, as they were able to push the payload past the finish line in round one. In round two, the Sabres were able to do the same as they pushed the payload all the way, forcing rounds three and four. It was more of the same in rounds three and four as each team followed each other up to force a draw on the third map.
On map four, a game of assault on the map Hanamura, CSP started round one on offense. The Bears managed to capture the first objective but were unable to capture the second point before the timer ran out. In round two, the Sabres were able to capture both points to win the map and take the match by a score of 3-0-1.
Things started out similar for the Bears in the second game of the night as Jamestown quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead through the first two maps.
On map three, the Golden Bears went on offense first. CSP made some progress on the objective late in the round, but it wasn't enough as Jamestown pushed them off and ran out the timer. In round two, the Jimmies were able to secure the first objective to win the round and complete the sweep.
The Golden Bears will return to Overwatch action in the spring as they will participate in the Spring Tespa Overwatch Tournament.
