LEAGUE OUTLOOK
The Golden Bears will be playing their home opener and Great Lakes (GLIAC) conference season openers on Friday night against the Lakers. Only four total league games have been played to date, with #12 Indianapolis leading the league at 1-0 followed by Lewis who split its two games, falling to UIndy and beating Maryville.

Concordia is one of four teams in the GLIAC to play five total games and one of four teams in the league with a winning overall record. They rank third in the league with 64 total goals scored and fourth in the conference with a +16 goal margin.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN BEARS
All five of Concordia's games have come against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), with wins at Rockhurst and at neutral sites over Adams State and Fort Lewis, while losing road games at #4 Lindenwood and at CSU-Pueblo.

Junior Maddie Hentges paces the offense with 10 goals (11th GLIAC) and 16 points (10th GLIAC) while junior Alina Boyce has nine goals (14th GLIAC) and 12 points (15th GLIAC). Defensively, Concordia is led by junior goalie Katie Lottsfeldt who ranks fourth in the league with 32 saves and third with a 49.2 save percentage while working within a two-goalie rotation that features sophomore Claire Hagen, the league's leader in goals against (15) and second in goals against average (7.44). Lottsfeldt is also sixth in the league with 12 ground balls.

Sophomore Lexi Stanley is seventh in the league with 17 draw controls and is 13th in the conference with nine ground balls.

ABOUT #20 GRAND VALLEY STATE
The Lakers have been nationally ranked or receiving votes for the IWLCA Top-25 every week since the start of the 2015 season and been in the top-25 all but 16 of the 53 weeks in that span. They've captured league regular season championship honors seven times in a row, won four GLIAC Tournament titles (2013-16) and were NCAA Tournament participants in the 2016 season.

The Lakers were picked second in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll and have been ranked as high as #15 in the country this year despite losing 11 seniors from the 2018 team and featuring a first year head coach (MacKenzie Lawler). They return a pair of prolific scorers in Carly Shisler (46g) and Abbi O'Neal (34g) along with All-GLIAC First Team defender Elizabeth Yeomans.

O'Neal leads the team with 17 goals and 21 points on the season while Shisler has 11 goals and seven assists. Stephanie Conroy has a team-best nine assists on a squad that features six players with 10 or more total points. Shisler also leads the team with 15 ground balls and 23 draw controls.

Goalie Abigail Dengler has produced a .494 save percentage, allowing 9.77 goals against while playing 264:05 of 300 total minutes in the net, making 42 saves in five starts.

They opened the season by defeating #19 Lake Erie 14-4 on the road and also scored a 14-10 road win at Indiana (Pa.) before a neutral win over Westminster (17-3). They were tripped up by their next two Colorado opponents, though, falling 14-11 at Colorado Mesa and 15-12 at #9 Regis.

ABOUT DAVENPORT
The Panthers are off to a strong start to their second year as a Division II member, with their only two losses coming against nationally-ranked teams: an 11-6 defeat at #25 Tiffin in the season opener and a 17-13 loss at Florida Tech in their third game.

They were picked fifth in the GLIAC Preseason Poll this season after a sixth place finish in the seven team league a year ago with a 1-11 league record (3-13 overall) in their first year in the conference.

They are led by All-GLIAC Second Team returner Ryann Deuel (46g) along with 157 of their 173 goals scored from their 2018 season.

Deuel leads the team once again with 19 goals and is second on the team with 26 points, behind team leader Taylor Ries with 30 points and a team-high 20 assists. Aaliyah Miller adds 17 goals and Brenna Knoll has scored 15 while adding a team-leading 25 draw controls, just five more than Deuel's 20.

Defensively, Davenport is led by Christine Steffes with 14 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. Goalie Makenna Pitchford has handled a bulk of the duty in net with 270 out of 300 minutes played including starts in all five games. She's allowing 10.67 goals against and has 41 saves at a .461 save percentage.
