Bears even early season record at .500 with loss at #4 Lindenwood

Concordia unable to keep pace with nationally-ranked Lions

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Concordia-St. Paul (1-1) dropped its first game of 2019, falling 18-2 at #4 Lindenwood (3-0) on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Hunter Stadium.

The Golden Bears remain on the road in the non-conference, playing three games on a trip to Pueblo, Colorado against Adams State, CSU-Pueblo and Fort Lewis with all three games on the campus of Colorado State University, Pueblo during CSP's spring break on March 5, 7, 9.

The Lions scored the first five goals in the game's opening eight minutes before senior Izzy Snow put Concordia on the scoreboard nearly 11 minutes into the contest on a feed from junior Kailey Heinl.

Lindenwood carried an 11-1 lead into the break and scored the first five goals of the second half before junior Alina Boyce's fourth goal of the year stopped their 11 goal run. Boyce's goal came on CSP's lone free position shot of the contest.

Concordia was able to work both goalies into the net with junior Katie Lottsfeldt draw the start and making four saves before sophomore Claire Hagen finished the final 38:26 of play in the net, registering six saves in the process.

The Lions out-shot Concordia 37-5 and held a 16-5 edge on the draw including a 9-0 margin in the second half. Concordia was able to keep ground balls close in the second half with a 9-8 disparity while turnovers were even at seven in the second half.

Sophomore Lexi Stanley had three caused turnovers, two draw controls and two ground balls to pace Concordia's defense while junior Maddie Hentges had a team-high three ground balls.

Lindenwood was led by Hailey Gallant's seven point game with five goals and two assists while Carly Fedorowski had four goals.
