ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team will travel to Houghton, Michigan this Friday, November 22
nd for a match up against Michigan Tech (2-3). The Golden Bears will face the Huskies at 4 p.m. Central Time in the Student Development Complex.

The game against Michigan Tech will be a week after CSP (1-2) hosted UW-Parkside (2-1) for their first regular season home game. The game featured numerous lead changes and four ties, but the Parkside Rangers took the lead late in the third quarter and didn't give it up. The Bears fell 88-75.

Sophomore
Meghan DuBois led the Bears in the home opener as the guard put up 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds and three steals, and dished out three assists. Junior
Riley Wheatcraft finished with 15 points, drowning a pair of three's late in the game and contributing to a .474 3PT% for the Golden Bears.

Alyssa Nelson was the strong player for the Rangers, scoring 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Parkside made 8-of-10 three pointers in the second half to run away with the lead. Nelson was one of five Rangers in double-figures. Her teammate Claire Jakatis contributed 18 points which included four three-pointers.

For CSP,
Danielle Schaub put up 15 points with five rebounds and shot 50% from the arc.
Sidney Wentland led the Bears with eight rebounds and five assists, in addition to her 13 points.
Despite the loss, the performance from the Golden Bears against Parkside earned the squad votes in the Central Region Women's Basketball Poll for D2SIDA. Concordia was one point away in the first week of voting from being in the top ten.Â

Concordia has a 3-7 all time series history record with the Huskies. Their last win happened at home in 2015, when the Bears won 86-77 during head coach
Amanda Johnson's inaugural season. In their last match up in 2017, the Bears fell 83-76 to the #10 Michigan Tech Huskies at home. The game on November 22
nd will be the 11
th meeting for CSP and #8 MTU.

ABOUT THE HUSKIES
Â
The Huskies have a 2-3 record after their first five games of the 2019-20 season. The squad started with a split after going 1-1 at the GIVC/GLIAC Crossover on November 9
th and 10
th. In game one, the Huskies outscored the Lewis University Flyers 76-63 to secure their first win. MTU then fell to William Jewell the following day, 75-71 and couldn't bounce back for the next two games.

Michigan Tech fell to NSIC teams, St. Cloud State 65-61 and #4 MSU-Moorhead 76-50 at the MSU-Moorhead Classic Tournament. They were able to redeem themselves in their last match up against Minnesota State-Mankato where they won 80-75.

Michigan Tech finished their 2018-19 season 21-9 overall and 16-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They claimed their 16
th GLIAC North Division/Conference title and were the number three seed in the conference tourney.

This season, senior forward Abbie Botz and junior guard Cassidy Trotter were each named to the Preseason All-GLIAC North Division Team for the Huskies. Botz is averaging nine points per game and 6.6 rebounds while Trotter has an average of 11 points per game with 3.4 assists and 3.4 steals.

As a team, the Huskies are averaging 67 points per game while shooting 40.5% from the field and so far, allow 70.8 points for their opponents. The squad is averaging rebounds and 12.4 turnovers in their first five games this season.

Meghan DuBois is the largest scoring contributor for the Golden Bears, totaling 47 points over three games and averaging 15.7 ppg. The sophomore has a .415 FG% and shoots 50% from the arc. She also averages six rebounds a game and 3.3 assists.

Danielle Schaub is a huge part of the Golden Bears offense, shooting 50% from the field, 52.9% from the three point line, and 100% from the free-throw line. Averaging 13.7 points per game, the guard also leads the team in rebounds with 19 total and 6.6 a game.
