Women's basketball signs two players for the 2020 season

The Golden Bears welcome Lindsey Becher and Sarah Kuma to the squad

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul head women's basketball coach Amanda Johnson has announced the signing for two new Golden Bears, Lindsey Becher and Sarah Kuma.

The Golden Bears will graduate solo senior, Cassidy Byrd, at the end of the 2019-20 season. The two incoming freshmen are well-rounded players that will add skills in many areas for the CSP women's basketball team in 2020.
 
LINDSEY BECHER (F, 6'1", Fr., Shoreview, MN / Mounds View HS)

Mounds View High School: Lettered five times in basketball for the Mustangs. . . named All-Conference Honorable Mention 8th and freshman year. . . named All-Conference her sophomore and junior year. . . awarded the Most Valuable Player her junior year and named Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. . . averaged 18 ppg, 11.2 rpg, and led the state in blocks with 125. . . acted as team captain her junior and senior year.

Personal: Is undecided on a major at CSP

Coach Johnson on Becher: "Lindsey will bring a big inside presence to our roster.  She's a long athletic 4/5 player who has great touch around the rim. She will draw teams to double her inside with her ability to finish. She's also a great defender that is known for her outstanding shot blocking ability. She can make a huge impact in the game on both ends of the floor."
 
SARAH KUMA (G, 5'5", Fr., Lakeville, MN / Lakeville North HS)

Lakeville North High School: Lettered five times in basketball for the Panthers. . . named All-Conference her junior year. . . played in four state tournaments with the Panthers. . . holds all-time school record for 3 point shooting percentage with 51%. . . has career high of 26 points. . . named team captain her senior year. . . also apart of the junior varsity soccer and golf teams and represented the Panthers at the state table tennis tournament.

Personal: Plans to major in health education and minor in exercise science at CSP.

Coach Johnson on Kuma: "Sarah is a great on the ball defender that knows where to be to make the smart aggressive play. She will be the player hustling after loose balls. On offense she will be a shooting guard who we can depend on for her ball handling and court awareness."
