Bears fall at #13 Grand Valley State

LaValle honored by former team as part of GVSU's senior day

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's lacrosse team (7-7, 4-6 GLIAC) dropped its regular season road finale on Sunday afternoon 21-4 to #13 Grand Valley State (12-4, 10-1 GLIAC) at GVSU Lacrosse Stadium.

After Concordia kept the host Lakers quiet in the opening minutes, GVSU rattled off a 9-0 run from the 3:36 mark to the 15:45 mark and never looked back.

Sophomore Maddie Hentges led the Golden Bears with a hat trick, giving her a new career high of 40 goals on the season to set career highs across the board with 17 assists and 57 points, giving her program-highs of 78 goals, 32 assists and 110 points.

It was a busy first half for sophomore Katie Lottsfeldt in goal as she fended off the Lakers as much as possible with 12 saves as CSP faced a 13-1 halftime deficit. The 12 saves for Lottsfeldt are the second most in a game on the year and give her 96 on the season to go with a .429 save percentage.

Concordia's busy defense in front of Lottsfeldt was led by sophomore Sara Stickler's three caused turnovers and two ground balls while sophomore Kailey Heinl also added a pair of caused turnovers. Lottsfeldt matched LaValle with three ground balls.

Sophomore Kaci Reid scored CSP's other goal, early in the second half to make it a 14-2 deficit on a pass from senior Kallie LaValle.

LaValle finished the day with three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers playing against her former team, who honored her before the game as part of GVSU's own senior day. LaValle was a two year member of a two-time GLIAC Champion Lakers squad and was a GLIAC All-Academic Team member before the Burnsville native transferred back to Minnesota to join the 2017 inaugural CSP women's lacrosse team.

LaValle will be honored on Concordia's senior night on Friday, April 27 at 6 p.m. against McKendree before the Bears play their home finale on Sunday, April 29 at noon against #12 Indianapolis at Sea Foam Stadium.
