HENTGES CONTINUES TO WRITE THE RECORD BOOKS
After a freshman season in which
Maddie Hentges set the school record for points with 53, she's upped the ante in year two. On Monday against Davenport, Hentges became the program's first 100-point player and now holds the top marks for career goals (73) and assists (31) in addition to her 104 points. Already with 51 points and four games remaining, she's just two shy of her own single season record, her 35 goals are eight away from
Kailey Heinl's 2017 mark and with 16 assists, she's just one away from
Kallie LaValle's inaugural record of 17.
She produced the program's first-ever triple hat trick with nine goals at Northern Michigan (4/4/18), also setting the record with 10 points in a game. She's produced one of 16 triple hat tricks in the country this season. In the Davenport win as she topped 100 career points, Hentges scored eight points which has been reached just three times (twice by her) including three assists which is just one shy of her own record set last year.
On the season, Hentges ranks third in the GLIAC with 4.25 points per game, fourth with 4.83 shots on goal per game, seventh with 5.83 shots per game, seventh with 2.92 goals per game and ninth with 1.33 assists per game.
LaVALLE RETURNS TO ALLENDALE
Concordia's lone senior Kalle LaValle makes her return to Allendale, Michigan on Sunday where she attended Grand Valley State as a member of the lacrosse team for her first two seasons. The Burnsville, Minnesota native transferred to Concordia to be part of the inaugural Golden Bears program in the 2016-17 academic year and will graduate with a degree in exercise science. At GVSU, LaValle was a GLIAC All-Academic Team honoree and scored four goals for the Lakers as a part of a pair of GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship runs. As a sophomore, LaValle was a part of the first Laker team to make an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Since joining Concordia's roster, LaValle's experience in a winning program and as a successful student-athlete have been instrumental in providing leadership to a young Golden Bear team. She's the only player to start all 28 games for the program and currently holds the single season assist (17) and draw controls (49) records set last year. She also ranks second in career assists (28), draw controls (58), fourth in points (52), shots (61), caused turnovers (29), free position goals (5), shots on goal (47) and fifth in ground balls (43).
She has 24 goals and 28 assists in her two seasons (28 games) including nine goals and 11 assists this season. She's second on the team in assists and fifth in points.
