MINNESOTA STATE SERIES HISTORY
Concordia holds a slim 19-18 edge in their series history against the Mavericks. Neither team has won two games in a row in the series since 2014, as the last seven matchups have seen a different winner than the previous contest. The teams split the season series last year, with the Mavericks claiming a 70-45 win early in the season and the Golden Bears winning 74-72 near the end of January.
LAST MEETING WITH MSU
As mentioned above, Concordia was able to defeat Minnesota State in their most recent matchup, collecting a 74-72 win over the Mavericks on January 23rd at the Gangelhoff Center.
Anna Schmitt made the big play in that game, as she drove the lane and made an off-balance lay-up with just over a second to go to break the 72-72 tie and give the Golden Bears the lead. The guard led the team with 23 points and also had five rebounds.
Hanna Vidlund and Lindsay Dorr also played big roles in the win for the Golden Bears. Vidlund played all 40 minutes, scoring 16 points and dishing out seven assists. Dorr collected 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
With seven lead changes and nine ties, the game was tight throughout the night. The Mavericks did increase their lead to nine points early in the fourth quarter, but CSP responded with a 9-0 run of their own, capped off by an Ellie Gess three. Schmitt also hit a three-pointer down the stretch to tie the game at 72 before her big shot to give the Golden Bears the victory.
