ST. PAUL, Minn. - Women's lacrosse history added two new teams to the NCAA ranks on Friday night at the Concordia Dome at Sea Foam Stadium as Concordia-St. Paul (1-0) defeated Northland College (0-1) 23-0 in each program's inaugural game. The Golden Bears are competing at the Division II level while the Lumberjills program enters the DIII ranks.
Concordia held a 40-0 margin in total shots and held Northland to just 1-of-9 on clears.
Concordia mounted its lead early in the contest as freshman
Kailey Heinl scored the first goal in program history just 19 seconds into play in the opening minute. She finished the game with two goals and an assist, adding five draw controls.
Just 16 seconds later, it was freshman

Alina Boyce for a 2-0 lead 35 seconds into the game. Boyce had the program's first hat trick, scoring her three goals on just three shots, and added a pair of ground balls. Hernandez had a goal and an assist in the game.

In the third minute, CSP scored two more goals as freshman
Kaci Reid netted a goal at 27:39 and followed by setting up
Kallie LaValle just 15 seconds later for a 4-0 lead just over three and a half minutes into the competition.
Concordia added another two goal minute in the fifth as freshman

Riley Burns, with Hentges setting up Boyce 19 seconds later for a 6-0 lead just over four and a half minutes in.
Burns was the top point scorer on the night with five, scoring twice and adding three assists. Reid and LaValle each had four points, scoring and assisting twice each. Hengtes had a three point game with two goals and an assist.
While the four points was strong, LaValle also had a huge impact in the draw control with seven and also collected three ground balls. CSP had a 19-4 advantage in the draw control in the game while LaValle's seven leading the club.
From there, the Golden Bears marched to a 14-0 halftime lead on 25 total shots (21 on goal).
The strong defensive effort was primarily based in the middle of the field, where CSP only allowed Northland one successful clear in nine attempts. Freshman
Brooke Genzler was the top performer statistically on the defense, causing six turnovers and collecting four ground balls. She also delivered a second half goal.
Concordia caused 21 turnovers in the game behind Genzler's team-high six and committed 14, with only five of those coming in the first half. Genzler and Reid tied for the team high with four ground balls as CSP held a 27-14 margin.
Although she didn't face a shot, freshman goalie
Katie Lottsfeldt secured her first collegiate win in the net and also added a late assist as the Golden Bears were able to move players around to new spots. Freshman
Kylie Christensen played the final 20 minutes in net, and neither goalie faced a shot.
Northland's goalie Josephine McGregor held her own in the crease, producing 11 saves on the day while collecting a pair of ground balls. Alexis Headley had a team-high three ground balls, Eliese Hart had two ground balls and two caused turnovers and Harley Kinney had two ground balls and two draw controls.
Concordia returns to the Concordia Dome on Sunday at 11 a.m. against Marian (Ind.). The Knights will play Northland first, squaring off tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the dome.
