Football to face UIU in first NSIC South Division road game

Golden Bears and Peacocks to tangle in expected rainy conditions

ST. PAUL, Minn. - This Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m., Concordia-St. Paul (1-4 NSIC, 0-1 South) heads to Fayette, Iowa to face Upper Iowa (3-2 NSIC, 0-1 South) in the first NSIC South Division road game for the Golden Bears at Harms-Eischeid Stadium.

Friday afternoon forecasts call for a 40 percent chance of rain at kickoff, subsiding to a five percent chance by 7 p.m. however it is expected to rain in northwest Iowa from Friday afternoon through Saturday kickoff.

The Golden Bears will be challenged as UIU sports the fourth ranked pass defense in the country (117.4) and the 22nd ranked rushing offense (223.4). Concordia, who hasn't had a field goal, PAT or punt blocked yet, will face an aggressive special teams unit from UIU that leads the country with five blocked FG/PAT and is fourth in the country with three blocked punts. The Peacocks also have a favorable 44-24 scoring margin off turnovers while CSP is being outscored 27-7.
